Diamondback Radials
I'm going to be ordering radial Diamondbacks for the KO's soon and I'm curious what tire you guys recommend for a '66 big block car. Also what size?

C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified 2020
A common size found among us is 215/70/15. Some do use other sizes, I'll let them put up there numbers. Dennis

215-70-15 from Diamondback for my 65 small block. They were Firestones at the time I bought them. I think Michelins are probably the best right now.

No issues with 215x65R15s in a a Michelin Defender. I will get a rub if I'm hard right or left at full lock. Find that's a non issue.

Oh yeah - I have 205-75/15 on my 66 BB car although no Diamondbacks.

I had 205-75/15 redlines that I consider the perfect size. Michelin no longer makes a 205-75/15, so Diamondback switched to Toyo's for their redlines. I tried several times over three years with Diamondback to get the Michelin based tires, but each time they told me "no soap".

Thanks guys!
Dan,
I'm with you Dan. I fully understand I'm here to tell ya', this '5 makes my heart beat faster!
Drove her today AND it doesn't get old. At times, I ponder stepping into a C6 Grand Sport Centennial Edition but the laws of my back pocket rule having only 1 of these. There just ain't no way I can part with her.
She sure is sweet when I drop the hammer and spin her to 6,500 r's

A used C2 I remember lusting over on a used car lot in the 70s was a tri-power 67 maroon convertible and my first 66 coupe was maroon. Knees still get wobbly at the sight of a nice, proper shade maroon C2. Nice car.

I had a set of 215-65-15 Pirellis drop shipped to Diamondback for conversion to redlines for my '66. I heard they no longer do this, and you are limited to tires they buy for conversion.

Contemplating replacing with 2015/75/R15 Michelins and will then stick with that size.

I just put 215/70/15 Diamond back Gold Lines on new reproduction steel wheels. They took very little weight to get them balanced. I really like how the Diamond back tires have a clean sidewall with no writing on them.

Yep, just put a set of Diamond Back red line Toyo's on mine replacing the 20 year old Pirelli's. Really happy with them and they look great. I went with the 205-75R/15 as I didn't want to deal with any possible rubbing, plus closer to original with what the car came with. Diamond Back is great to deal with plus I got them really quick. I had them match balanced to the wheels(bolt-ons). It cost a bit more but worth it. I lost a star burst center cap once and they ain't cheap to replace. So I go for the optimum balance to minimize anything else that may want fly off.

About three years ago I bought and currently using Michelin Harmony 215/70 R15 on my KO's. Once I made a very sharp and way to fast left turn entry onto my drive way and upon hitting the small curb at the end of my drive way there was a rub on the left side. No damage.

Burning Brakes
I have the 215/70 Firestones on my 67 and for some reason they tend to rub on tight right turns. I actually cracked my front fender when pulling into a driveway. It could be my car that is to blame, but it is stock with all new suspension and the original wheels. Just to be safe, I plan to put the 75 series on my 65.

Melting Slicks
I used the 215/70/15 Diamondback Michelin's on my "65 BB. Gold Stripes. I think gold stripes look better on a Nassau Blue car. The red stripes were making the total view kinda purple-ish to me. I thought blue stripe would have been just too much blue. Find photos here and in D-Back's catalog to compare stripe color against your paint, and decide what looks best to you in a total package look kind of way.
Some paints look good with any stripe color.
