Aggressive driving will not catch gear

Aggressive driving will not catch gear
Transmission shifts perfect all around. Once the gas pedal is floored, transmission has trouble catching 2nd gear grinds at high rpms and eventually catches the gear. All other gears worked fine. I have heard of many possibilities but don't know where to start off. Any ideas? Transmission fluid has been changed. Clutch seems fine to me. No slipping even when starting off the line at high gears. 1999 ls1

stock clutches are known to have issues at high RPM's

Most probable cause is a weak blocker ring and or synchro. The blocker ring has to engage the synchro and the synchro has to engage and SLOW down the gear so the synchoro can properly engage.
During normal driving the weak synchro assembly can catch up and properly engage. During high RPM it can not properly do its job and you get grinding.
If the air gap on your clutch isn't correct (clutch doesn't fully disengage) the weak synchros show their inability to synchronize .. Properly bleed the clutch and insure you have good fluid in the master/slave. See if that changes anything.
I have a TICK master and can adjust the air gap. When mine isn't correct, I feel it in 3rd gear when the trans is cold.
