Default ZO7 Brakes

Has anyone had any problems with inadequate stopping power? I would hit the gas then hit the brakes and the car would stop but it would take longer. If I let off brakes and hit again it would be normal. Feels like air in the system or brake fade but it's not from them getting hot because I wouldn't be on the brakes hard before hand. It's a little weird because ur expecting the car to stop in a certain distance but it doesn't. Could be dangerous. Anyone had any problems like this?

Can you describe what you're doing in a bit more detail? I'm not sure I follow. It sort of sounds like a "don't do that" situation - hitting the gas and then the brakes (without releasing the gas? That's where I'm confused).

Could it be related to the fact you're hitting the gas, killing engine vacuum, and then using your vacuum-assisted brakes? There's a reservoir, but still.

Have you properly done the burnishing procedure?

I would hit the gas then take my foot off the gas then immediately hit the brakes. What's the burnishing procedure? It doesn't happen all the time. Just once in a while if I'm messing around on the highway

Unless he's going to track the car he doesn't need to do the brake burnishing procedure.

There is a street burnish and a track burnish described in the OM.

Could be the throttle overrun issue as well.

my z07 brakes are if anything touchy because I will drive my other cars and then I need to re-calibrate my foot.....otherwise I am touching them too much and it stops like right now!

Like Bill said, read about the procedure in the Owner's Manual, or take a look at the two stickies by jvp at the top of this section of the forum.

Basically it's run it up to 60 mph and then brake down to zero mph - and do that 50 times. It takes about 10 minutes.

get your ventilated respirator ready too! Got pretty nauseous doing the burnishing procedure. You may want to do it at night w less traffic and when its cooler out

Basically you need to get car up to speed brake hard and repeat about 60-90 times within 15 mins or so

Your backing plate should have bubbles on it and a faint white baked line visible where the layer of crap from the factory has burned off

Where do you guys even do this? This seems hard to do. I guessing if a cop sees you doing it, it's reckless driving? Is this required for street use? I've read a couple things and they say it's not needed for the street. I ordered a 17' Z06 will be good to know this info before hand.

My CCMs don't act like this at all; just superb stopping performance regardless of the weather. OK 'maybe' when it's really cold out and the brakes are super cool it 'might' seem to take a little longer for them to react, but I doubt it.

You really need to burnish them for them to perform at 100%.

Highways with no traffic late at night, so cool down and period of no brakes can be used.
