'66 Coupe Engine Swap
With the first phase complete, time has come to give the '66 the power it deserves. Pulled the old weak 307 posing as a 327, gonna clean up the engine bay and get the ZZ4 ready to take its place. Installing factory Sidepipes as well.
Here are a couple before and after pics of the outside and current pics.

Nice engine! EFI and saving about 50 pounds on the front end with aluminum heads and intake and the headers! Will you have to upgrade the trans with the added HP?

Are you going to reuse the block hugger headers? I'm not sure how well they will hook up with the side exhaust without considerable mods to the side exhaust pipes. Hedman makes the correct headers for side exhaust application. Dennis

[QUOTE=RJ1;1592789119]Not planning on doing anything to the power glide for now, that may change with the added power.

Yeah, might have to modify the side exhaust, but still considering installing electric cutouts, I have already bought them in case I decide to install. If I do, it will require quite a bit of modifying to fit them in the tight area between headers and Sidepipes. Hopefully get to that next week.

Finally got the engine bay cleaned up and prepped the ZZ4 to be installed tomorrow hopefully all goes well, also bought a new aluminum Griffin radiator ...
I got side tracked a little, my recently purchased '95 ZR1 that had not been started in about 8 years, right after I brought it back to life I killed the starter by washing the engine. For those that don't know, the starter is buried deep in the valley of the engine under the coil packs tons of vacuum hoses and the intake plenum. It's was a massively intimidating task to undertake, but it's alive again!
Now back to the '66....

It was a long day but the ZZ4 in bolted up, spent a few hours reinstalling ac, water pump and ECM, still lots of stuff left to do but over a big hurldle.
This will be the last engine swap using the lift, I'll be investing in a cherry picker, liked about 4 inches going high enough.

Waiting on new throttle & kick down cables from Lokar, and a new alternator bracket, so I decided to freshen up my hood latches and hinges. Pulled them and a little scrubbing and a fresh coat of paint they look tons better!

x2, I think that's what hot rodding is all about - innovation. And with the sbc there are so many options everyone can make their own creation to brag about. I don't think I would to some swaps that I have seen but everyone has their own reasons and budget and parts to use. Then it's nice to read here on the forum what the did and how it worked out.

Thanks! I have to keep reminding myself this is supposed to be a simple build for a fun driver, I was able to get the bodywork and paint completed in 30 days, hoping to have the engine swap done in the next week or so. Planning on taking the car to the Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend the first weekend in October, we have been going for 20 years, its a blast with a ton of fun events and beautiful scenery.
Lokar cables and pedal came in this morning, I also decided to change out the stock gauges to Auto Meter American Muscle since I was going to need to rework the tach to work with the new distributor. Also gives me an excuse to pull the cluster and finally replace the dash pad on the driver side. Bought the conversion plate for the stock dash from Hot Rod Dynamics. Don't know if the dash will get done before the end of the month, we will see...
