Hello forum. I am looking for someone who can perform the muffler by pass mod for me. Chicago area. I do not have welding experience. I have stock C5 mufflers in good shape and two pieces of pipe. The parts are off the car. I just need someone to do the cutting and welding for me. I do know what I need in terms of where the pipes need to be. I am not necessarily looking for someone to do the mod AND install the mufflers. That would be nice. But first thing first. So if you are a good welder and can do this in your garage per se than so be it. Obviously Corvette people who are good welders are preferred. If I can get the mod done I'll then worry about mounting them to my car. If you know of a shop that does modifications that are not of the norm or is Corvette friendly or anybody who knows this is not a big deal just let me know. I live near Brookfield Zoo and work near Comiskey Park. For those who are not from Chicago, I live near Midway Airport and work near US Cellular Field. Thanks!

I would see if Kevin Paddock at Libertyville Chevy can handle that for you he heads up the High Perf. division there and is their Master Vette Mechanic and if not Kevin give Blackdog Racing (I believe in Mundelein, IL) a call fairly certain they can do this for you.

I would like to get my Z06 TI exhaust done too so let me know if you find a place in the Chicagoland area. I called Ultimate and Blackdog today and the guys I spoke to have no experience with this mod or welding titanium.

If anyone has actually had this done by a reputable shop please let me know.

Do a simple google search for Blackdog Racing I believe they are in Mundelein, IL.

They are a GREAT shop they did this EXACT mod to my old C6 Z about 5 years ago.

Not only are they a great corvette custom high performance shop but they have their own professional corvette drag racing team and if you see their shop your mind will be blown (honestly)!

Can't beat having them do this mod for you and trust me when I tell you this mod is the best bang for the $ C6 Z exhaust mod that you can do and the car sounds great at WOT with this mod (ask me how I know).

The C6Z "muffler gut" and the C5 "bypass pipe" are two very different operations. I would be surprised if Blackdog could not weld Titanium however!

Yeah, a little bit of an oversight on my part.

That being said I have done both the mod you want to do on my old C5 Z and the mod I mention on my C6 Z, and Blackdog did the mod on my C6 Z don't recall who did the bypass on my old C5 Z, but a Bob (Quicksilver) points out, I would be very surprised if Blackdog could not do this for you.
