Default Product damaged interior parts What would you do ?

Adams In and Out Detail Spray.....now before anyone jumps on me and says "Did't you read the disclaimer about test first" etc, etc, I have used this stuff and actually love it...as long as your using a nearly full can. The can was nearing it's emptiness and i sprayed it on an angle and take a look what it did.

It will not clean off. Only thing I can figure is whatever chemical is used in the propellant stained the plastic as i tilted the can while spraying.
It was suggested by a couple friends to just spray that damaged piece with black vinyl dye spray. I can but I'm 100% sure it won't match the rest and i'm not repainting every piece.
I'll have to hit Marc up for a replacement.

Now my question is this: Should I contact Adams, show them what their product did and see if they will cover the cost of a replacement sill or should I just bite the bullet ?
Open for suggestions !

I'd let Adams know for sure, even if just an FYI. Would I expect any money, no.

I wonder if one of those plastic restoration products could salvage that. They may have a solution when you show them the pic and explained what happened. They are, after all, interior/exterior finishing experts.

I sent an email, along with these pictures to Adams Customer Service Dept. I'll see what they have to say and report back

Id try a little lacquer thinner on a rag, use it sparingly and don't keep rubbing the same area too much.....swipe it a few times, let it dry, then repeat

The black plastic is black all the way through, its not a black coating...so whatever that is is just stuck on the surface and should be able to come off

I use a lot of their products including in and out spray..

Unfortunate this happened.

I met Adam and he seems like he stands behind his products.

Contact him like stated above and see what happens

I'd go with the lacquer thinner attempt. If it fails I'd do vinyl spray paint available at AutoZone.

The heavy duty goo gone with a micro fibre will get rid of that. Will not effect the plastic.

I have a couple of those white splotches on my car's sill. I didn't do it, some detail guy at the dealership did, so who knows what the product was.

Would mineral spirits work?

I've met Adam too and he is a very nice guy. Hopefully he can shed some light on what might have caused the spotting and tell you what would work to take them out. Please post up what you find out. I use the In and Out spray on my car and have never had that happen, but I have not used it on any interior parts.

If it were me, I would try this first. I have used this for 16 years in my C5 with no problems...

If that does not do it, I doubt any other "cleaner" would do it without damaging the texture.

I would NOT use lacquer thinner it will melt the plastic and most likely turn it white

I use Chadwick's tire no-sling on my interior parts with great results (not to mention the Triple Play also) and Neil will definitely stand behind his products

He's right...Lacquer thinner will do more harm then good. I tried Mineral Spirits and Naphtha. Neither of them worked. Goo Gone was mentioned, Naphtha is the base of Goo Gone so that won't work either.

Like I said, I sent an email to Adams and I got a friend who's at Carlisle now and I sent her the pictures to show Adam himself...( She took a selfie with Adam and posted it on Facebook ) I'll see if she comes through and what Adam has to say.

If "normal", non-aggressive cleaners, like Simple Green, won't work, try some alcohol. If that doesn't remedy it, the discoloration is most likely permanent. Remove the part and spray it with interior dye.

Sorry to see that happen!!

Do Not use lacquer thinner, that kick panel will be going in the trash if you do.

Had this happen on another car once. Never did figure out a way to get rid of it. I tried everything too. Including a magic eraser which up until that point got rid of everything. I believe it was a Meguiars product that caused it. I missed it when wiping it up and it sat too long and stained the plastic a powdery white. Peanut butter and a toothbrush faded it so that you could only see it at a certain angle but it still drove me nuts until i sold the car.
