Default Drivers seat bolster fix. Only $80.00 locally

My new-to-me 2004 Z came with the standard torn drivers seat bolster. The foam was cut all the way through and the support "wing" had cut through the upholstery. I contemplated several options, and ended up taking my seat-back upholstery off and leaving it with a local upholstery shop. While it was in there I repaired the bolster foam with some spray glue and some reinforcing cloth. A few days and $80.00 later I'd say it looks as good as new!

I love saving $$$.

I had about the same level of repair needed when I got my car. Mine cost around $200 IIRC, and I was more than happy with that.

Wow nice price. I'm going to fix mine, but they are charging me $120 in the Inland Empire. (South Cali)

Looks great.

My current FRC has custom inserts done and upgraded leather also....but they didn't beef up the bolster support at all.
I have to have that taken care of....before....

Are you taking them the car? Mine was cheap because I removed the seat then removed the upholstery from the seat and took them only that. They had no R&R to do. Just had to remove the damaged pieces and sew in new ones.

Honestly, I was expecting the guy to tell me it was going to be around $150.00. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost.

I recently recovered my seats and on the edge that cuts thru the bolster I added some 3/8" fuel line tubing to prevent it ever cutting thru again.

Next time redo the foam in the section just above the bolster. The wrinkling of the leather indicates that the foam has collapsed and is no longer pushing out against the leather. hence the wrinkles.

That looks like an outstanding repair for the low cost. Nicely done.

I do leather repairs as well and I agree these guys did a great job and gave you a fair price.

The real test unfortunately is how long does it hold up, there are fillers that do a great job visually but only for a short time, then there are fillers that don't do so well visually but are strong and last a long time.....id really like to know what they used, but they would probably never tell you.

Actually... The wrinkling is because I was an idiot and didn't get the "velcro-like" stuff stuck in there properly. I'm taking them apart this weekend to re-stick (?) the tops.

Not sure. The guy who owns the upholstery shop has done work for me in the past. The backing "foam?" was pink instead of the yellow that was stock. It felt about the same as the stock stuff though.
