Default I think i got screwed by my tuner but i dont know how to tell.

So i went and got a tune done by a local tuner after i got my headers installed. I really wanted a mail order tune from ecs but my C5 is my daily and i cant be without my car. So i got a street tune where he drive my car and tuned it with hp tuners. So a few days later my car is getting worse gas mileage and is just not driving right. I am having rpm surging at ideal and it has a real bad lag when you hit the gas. Also my check engine light came on with cat insufficiency codes. I have been driving it for 2 weeks now and it just isn't driving right. I have called the tuner and he isn't even giving me the time of day and want to charge me for a diagnostic test. I did some thorough checking and he has a real spotty reputation around South Florida as a tuner and speed shop.

is there any way i can check and see what was done on my car? i have a Bluetooth obd2 scanner and the torque pro app if that matters or i will get what i need to check it. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you

you need to find someone with HP Tuners to take a look. I know who to recommend near me but you are a bit far from the Tampa/St Pete area.

who did you use?

I have heard good things about Lashway in Pompano...there is Horsepower Sales down your way too...as a matter of fact they are in W Palm

I don't want to say names as i don't know for sure yet. I don't want to falsely accuse someone without proof.

from your description and symptoms and the fact you just had headers installed you should check the wiring to the o2 sensors, not uncommon for the wiring to get fried if it's left too close to the headers

First thing i did check. O2 sensors are all fine. Its my rears that should have been tuned out that are throwing codes.

Give Redline a call, Howard and the guys are top notch. I was very happy with the work they did on my Corvette (I'm VERY picky).

Yup that was my first mistake. I used a guy i found on FB who did my tune for $150 out of a sketchy warehouse. I have talked to Howard and them they are awesome but i tried to save money and now it looks like i am gonna have to get a new tune anyway.

I will probably be calling you guys soon once i get enough money to get a retune. I guess that is what happens when you try and go the cheap route.

I hear you. Sometimes saving $$ ends up costing us more in the long run. Trust me we have all been there myself included. $150 definitely sounded too good to be true! Let us know when you get it all squared away.

Well maybe you might not need a "retune" and we aren't looking to charge you for something you don't need. Give is a call tomorrow and lets at least figure out what is going on as it may be something easy.

If Scott answers tell him that Howard told you to call regarding calibration from a conversation on forum!

Me too. I'd just cut your losses now (in other words, not let the original tuner touch the car) and then get a better shop to fix the car.

Yeah thats what i am gonna do. Our communication was only via FB and he blocked me today. Thats why i was trying to diagnose it myself. I have a feeling he never even adjusted my original tune. I took it straight to him after i had my headers done so i font know how it drove before the tune.

so after you are fixed up, please let us all know what the issue was.

and in my opinion you owe it to everyone else to let the community know who didn't answer your calls and blocked you on FB....if not here then please do so in the Transaction/Feedback forum.

You rarely save a lot of money when you are saving a lot of money. I guess you know what I mean.

100% agree i was not expecting that kind of response. I was just hoping someone would know the answer on how i could tell because i am honestly afraid i may be running to lean. I have heard nothing but excellent thing about Redline Motorsports and this goes to show how awesome they are.
