How long is OnStar on a new 2016 C7
i am curious as to how long is the OnStar and free maintnanance on a new C7? I thought all Chevys had 2 year maintenance free and 3 years of OnStar! Am I mistaken?
Thank you

As far as I know, OnStar is free for 6 month trial period starting when your dealership activates it (unless you activate it earlier, I imagine). SiriusXM is 6 months IIRC.

My OnStar was six months from the time it was set up by the dealer (03/13/16 ending 09/13/16) when the car was purchased.
Disclaimer: My C7 is a 1LT. I don't know if the upper trim levels get a longer trail subscription.

You get 6 months of the full Guidance plan to start. At the end of 6 months, the plan drops back to a very limited Basic plan for 4.5 years (limited use of the Onstar App plus monthly diagnostic reports).

It might as well be 0 for me, I got mine in November last year, drove it for a few weeks and stored it for the snow, woke up this spring to nothing.
Luckily on-star is factually, useless.

that sucks. Yeah it's no thing big but considering GM gives longer time on low end vehicles I would have expected same or better

Now, I never used it, basically everything I touch comes with road-side-assistance today. Car insurance, credit cards, loans, car work at local mechanics....

That's not my experience nuclearranger at all.
We've had various vehicles and being in the NorthEast, we hibernate our vehicles from Nov.-April typically. I bought the 2015 C7 and it was delivered Nov. 1st (2014). I called OnStar and asked to defer the start date until April 1st. I've done this on several GM vehicles, no prob.
So, my 6 month period lasts all season that we drive.
You do have to ask.

Agree with the full OnStar for 6 months and 5 years of basic.
Also on the 3 months Of XM but on my 14 I got an additional 9 months of XM. Do they still do this?

I should point out that the limited plan that takes place after 6 months is completely useless as you can't use it for anything (i.e. No road side assistance, navigation, emergency services or any other kind of help). I'm not sure why it's even offered after the initial 6 months.

If you do you can unlock the car, remote start the car, view tire pressures and other vehicle info plus send destinations from your phone to the nav for 5 years.
