Default Need HUD in your C6 or other vehicles?

We used to sell a GPS powered HUD that was very popular but not very functional and lagged quite a bit. The manufacturer went out of business so we stopped carrying them. Well I came across this unit about a year ago and have been using it in all my vehicles and LOVE IT! This iPhone-thin HUD unit plugs into your OBD2 on any 1996 or newer vehicle. It gives you a multi-color, beautiful, large HUD with speed, volts, water temp, RPM, engine code scanner / clearer, auto on/off with ignition, self dimming with ambient light, time, distance on trip, and alerts to out of range on speed/temp/volts/check engine code.

I have these in stock and make a perfect HUD for a Corvette that doesn't have HUD or is broken (I've had a couple with broken projectors or mounts that vibrated). Great gift for friends and family. Perfect for daily driver vehicles to help be aware of your speed and other important engine parameters at all times. Check it out here for more info and pics/videos. I will be posting more soon. Installing one on a non-HUD C6 after the weekend. It should literally take a couple minutes to put the unit on the dash, install the reusable reflector, run the wire down the side of the dash and plug it in under the dash!

http://exoticvette.simdif.com/multi-color-hud-unit.html

Email me or call for info / questions. These are selling very quickly. I ordered 100 and I'm down to just about 60 already. Ship out quick so you'll have it in a couple days!

This looks pretty cool, I just might have to buy one.
Do you have and pics of how the unit sits on the dash ?
Does it attach with Velcro, double sided tape etc ?
Do you need to route an OBD II extender to the unit, or is it wireless ?
Thanks

Yes, curious too about the wiring scheme.

Also, any possibility of some more pics/better video of the display in action. I only saw a video of a high speed blast taken of the display at night. Can you do something with daylight and just a casual short drive?

Do you have better pictures? Will this work with any car? Can you change the display color?

Maybe post a link to the instructions, they should answer most of our questions.

Installed this today. Will answer more questions tomorrow. The install took less than 10 minutes and completely reversible in less than that (trust me you won't unless you're selling the car it's in).

We need like an installation sheet or how it connects or if we need an extender and all that good stuff.

From reading the sale page it says it simply plugs into your OBD port and the remote is wireless. My guess is that there aren't any instructions that go in depth for installation. If there are I would imagine them being about as comprehensive as a radar detector. Much like the radar system you can choose your own wire routing. Cool product if you want a HUD and don't want to spend big on a factory unit.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I just finished the new trim that goes around the unit to make it look really nice and factory. Most dashes are very curved and the flat unit doesn't look good - until the trim I include with it is added!

Here's a better daytime pic to show a comparison of the improvement in size and clarity and color to the stock C6. The pic shown is using the optional suction-cupped reflector which is nice to use if you're moving the unit from one car to another.

The cable for the unit is a flat wire that tucks between the A-Pillar and the dashboard invisibly. I just did a video of how quick and easy the install in the C6 is which I'll post by tonight hopefully. It's literally idiot-proof.

No, it doesn't have the G-Meter or the turn-by-turn or the stereo info.... but it does have alerts to tell you if your temp is high or voltage is low (both settable to your level). It also tells scans your computer if there's a check engine light on and even allows you to clear it! There's so much AWESOME about this thing!

I'll offer a 1 year warranty on it. Thanks for mentioning that in the thread I need to update the website.

Thanks for sharing the link David! I put one in the widebody Bentley I took to Cars and Coffee yesterday and you know that the first thing the first guy said to me was when I parked? "I was noticing that display on your windshield as you backed in"! Out of everything to notice on that car.... LOL

FYI - I'm down to 20 units left Order already in for Monday morning.

Will include install instructions. I just did another install with a video this morning. Took less than 5 minutes. Wire tucks in. REQUIRES NO TOOLS to install. No extenders, additional anything. Comes with the unit, power cable, trim to make it look flush to the curved dash, wireless remote, basic instructions as well as some from me to get it up and running in your 1996 and newer OBD2 vehicle. Plugs right in and you're DONE.

It's very cool, and at this price I would think those members wanting a HUD and not confident enough to install the factory unit, it would be worthwhile to try this route.

From the pics it looks really good. This is on my list for another car. If I caught your reply correctly, did you say that you created a tray to hold the unit on the dash curve? If so, are you providing that with the unit, or if not, can you expand on what you used/did?

Thanks!

Comes with a flexible trim piece I came up with yesterday that works on any shape (it's rubber) and has self-adhesive already on it. I'm including that as well as an alcohol prep to clean the surfaces and a piece of 3M double-sided emblem adhesive for guys who want a more permanent install of the unit. I've been driving some of my cars really hard and it's never moved with the supplied no-slip rubber pad that goes under it though.

Will this display all the PID's available through the ECM ?
How many points can you display at one time ?
Is there a "page" option that will scroll through multiple displays ?
Thanks

It displays either speed/water temp/voltage/miles on current trip in the larger area. In the smaller top area it displays either RPM/clock/fuel consumption. All of those can be accessed by the side of the unit or the wireless battery powered remote. As can all the adjustments of alerts and clock, tire size/speedometer adjustment, scanner for codes and reset.

It does have a shift light but it really isn't that great to be honest. I think the highest setting is only 6k. If someone was really racing I imagine they would have a nice aftermarket tach for that anyway.

Here's a pic of the cable tucked into the pillar/dash gap. I left the ends exposed to show you it's there. Completely hidden when installed. Literally NO TOOLS and 5 min install. Did not have to remove the A-Pillar cover/trim for this.

Just placed an order for one to give it a try. Couple of questions:

Any issues using it without the suction cup reflector?

Any chance you can post a picture from outside of the car so we can see the placement for cars that already have the HUD?

How big/small is it? Can it be installed inside the actual HUD casing?

Looking forward to the video.
