Default C6 Z06 engine trouble at the track

Hey gang...need some help tracking down a gremlin in my C6 Z06. I'm at Watkins Glen this weekend with PCA, have my car out for first time in a year. After about 4 laps, once car gets warmed up and I start moving quickly, under load in a turn the engine briefly cuts out, almost like a backfire or misfire, and the tach drops to zero and stops working. From then on the car runs rough. We have replaced the spark plugs, swapped ignition coil with another Z, and yet 3 times out same issue. Yesterday it showed a rich condition code, today a misfire code but didn't specify which cylinder.

Anyone see this before or any ideas?

Full tank. So latest theory is that we got a bad crank angle sensor (whatever that is) code, so we're putting a new one in now (thank you advanced autoparts) and we'll give it another go...stay tuned.

Replacing the sensor solved the problem! Still no idea what it does our how it went bad, but it's fixed.

Crank angle sensor is what the car uses to time spark.

Heat kills them and a giveaway is that it happens after the engine is heat soaked and is fine when cold.

Was yours located on the block to the right on the starter?

Has a black cover with a bolt showing and a two wire connection?

No they do not make a heavy duty version. They are a very very simple sensor, just produces a voltage spike that the computer sees as the trigger wheel passes teeth by.

The one by the starter is the crank sensor yes. The other one is on the front of the engine and runs off a signal from the cam gear. This is how they are able to run sequential injection.
