Direct Port Nitrous on my 464 Tall Deck
Hey Guys, I haven't posted in a bit. I just got done with a 455 LSX engine build. But I did change my car from a nitrous plate to a direct port nitrous on my 464. The plate maxed out at a 200 shot. The direct port could actually spray a 500 shot. But I don't think my engine would last a long time with that much nitrous. But I jetted it to a 300 shot. I have had to totally redo the tuning. I had to pull alot more timing than I thought I would. I have been getting the tuning sorted out. It ran 9.87@142 with the 200 shot. DA 6500ft. I ran a 9.82@ 146 on a test run with the 300 shot. The DA was 6800ft. But it ate a couple spark plugs on that run. So should be able to easily run 9.70's and maybe get into the 9.60's. It takes alot of hp to shave tenths off in the 9s. I have the tuning dialed in so it's totally safe now, and will run it soon since it's starting to cool off. This was my first direct port system I have done. It's a little tricky getting the lines bent perfect, but I think it turned out ok.

Great job on the install! Looks great!
The dual purge tubes probably looks pretty cool shooting out from under the hood when activated.
When I was running a big plate kit I found that having a dry kit really helped to eliminate pop backs and other such fuel atomization issues the wet kits were problematic for. I've always wanted to go with the direct port setup myself... Maybe one day soon!
I've melted my fair share of plugs back in the day, usually this is a sign you're leaning out. Back then I went with a Champion truck plug that had a huge electrode. Not missing gears also helped to eliminate that problem.
What I found almost always melted plugs was overfilling the bottle and then heating it up. That first squeeze off a slightly overfilled and heated bottle is just amazing, but it always taxed the spark plugs.
Looks great! Just a real super job!

Nice LS engine!
My kid was singing the F-Body blues awhile back when he had to swap out engines to get his Firebird running.
He gets his permit to drive with an adult in about 3 months and he ain't driving my Corvette! LOL, so the kid better get cracking on installing his interior!

Cool, I like a real Street car. I didn't know you were at a high altitude, but would think it would still be in the 9s unless you are not running a lot of boost.

Good to hear from some of you guys I haven't talked to in a while Just kind of a update. My car is ready to go. I will probably run it Sept 16th. Shayne's TA is getting tuned with the blower, and hopefully his car will be ready to go on the 16th also.

Boy those direct port setups! Not a lot of guys make their own from scratch. Jim, I went and visited a place here in Jacksonville to look into tuning my hot mess called Alchemy EFI and was a really nice place to see. One of the guys showed me his blown LSx running spray. It had LS3 heads and a tall runner Holley aluminum intake. He mentioned Tony Mamo told him to send the heads and the intake so he could match it all up. Amazing how a small group of truly skilled guys get their names around.
I guess you don't have to worry about intake pooling anymore with the direct port setup? Looks great! Love the solenoids, they clearly state the intent of that motor.
