Decided to get some real track pointers at VIR...
No spoilers here so read on. Great time at the track today. We were guests of TEAM AUDI's Lawson Ausenbach in the GTD class. Great guy......but I really just wanted to hear/see the Corvettes. Having driven there many times it was my first time there watching the IMSA series. Watching 1:40-1:45 lap times there is pretty damned incredible.
Race is on Tuesday for those looking for a re-broadcast.
And yes I'm aware that the picture and video quality suck. This one is pretty good though.

No comment, but she was stunning. The car I mean.
For those that have never heard the C7R in person, it's simply awesome. Exhaust note is part of the car's personality. The C7R sounds like a big, loud American V8 as it should. The Porsches, all sounded like German precision. The Ford GT.......hideous. Just not right.

Jeesh....
BTW, little-to-nothing 'goes over [my] head'. And resorting to insults is unbecoming. You should grow up.

I agree, the Ford GT sounds hideous. The C7R sounds bad ***. Great video clips and pictures. Thanks for posting. I would love to go to one of these events and see in person. Hopefully at COTA soon.

Stevenson is awesome and a great race group that knows what they're doing. I've followed them the lat several years as they've raced the Z/28Rs in the Continental series before moving over to the Audi's in GTD. For reference they won the championship last year with the Z/28Rs.

Thank you OP for the great video/pics.
I wasn't there, but did watch the race on the tube (it was a good day for the #3 ).
In a matter of aesthetics, it's all subjective.
Fortunately, with this IMSA series there is a great variety of sound.
You're in luck:

Scraping the splitter.
We were up there a few weeks ago for a race and the guys on our team work with somebody who does chassis and engine management calibrations for Turner Motorsports. They were testing one of the BMW's and it was running 1:47's in practice (I was timing from our trackside villa). We got to hang out in the garage for awhile and check out the car. Pretty cool stuff.
That was my first time at VIR and it's a beautiful facility and a pretty awesome track. It's a long haul from Florida, but it's well worth it.

I saw the C7.Rs turning 1:41s in qualifying this weekend and just shook my head. I'm lucky to get within 20 seconds of that. Crazy fast.

Oh, and it looks like one of those "pointers" is giving your left upper arm a little nudge.

Or did it? Sadly the IMSA series is more about equalizing competition through the BoP. I applaud Ford's effort to build a TTV6 race car, however I do reserve the right to tell them it sounds like $h!+ on the track.

No. C/D use the Grand West course, IMSA runs the full course. 2:00 is a hero time in a street car, 1:58 on slicks is doable with no mistakes in a Z06. 1:41 with 500hp is flippin insane.

I only wish Danville and "civilization" wasn't so far away from the track. It's 25 minutes to get anything. IMO, the best way to do it is stay at the lodge or in a villa. I'm going to try to get back up there with the new car and the family for a weekend in the villas.
But yeah, you're very lucky to be close to that track. Beautiful place to spend the weekend.
