Default New Spoiler

A good friend got a new spoiler for his ZR1. I got a new ZR1 spoiler! Not quite finished with the install, but close.

Came off his ZR1, has a GM part number on it. I like it. 2012 ZR1's had 2 different spoilers available. Nuff said.

Yup the GM full width wing aka Ron Fellows wing came on some ZR1's the last few years of production. Not sure why only some and not all, a thread I read a while back said that GM realized the optional full width wing actually created more down force than the traditional ZR1 wing.

I also have the GM full width wing on my silver Z.

The Full Width Spoiler came with the Michelin Cup Tires on 2012 - 2013 ZR1 (PDE) and Z06 (Z07)

Just because it came on a ZR1 doesn't make it the "ZR1 spoiler". Cup wheels came on ZR1s, but they are distinctly different from what people refer to as the ZR1 wheel. GM has a history of putting parts on a premium trim level, and then later reusing it on different packages. The ZR1 wheels and spoiler, for example, made in on 2011 Carbon Edition Z06s. It can be hard to know what to call things around here, but the first person to reply was trying to help, not insult you.

Generally, the first time GM releases a part, we associate that part with the car/trim that it came on. The 2009 ZR1 was launched with a unique spoiler and therefore that's what people commonly refer to as the ZR1 spoiler.

I didn't either. I think he meant Johnny O'Connell maybe? The Ron Fellows edition 2007 Z06 had a similar spoiler, and as other people mentioned, there is the "full width racing spoiler" that you can buy from GM. They might be the same thing... but the latter appears to be what you transferred from the ZR1 onto your car.

Cool. I like the lower profile spoiler. Have the RPI low spoiler on my C5. Still gonna claim the ZR1 label.

I saw that when I was looking at them. RPI had it painted and shipped quicker at the time I was ready to order.
