Default New steering wheel

I bought a new steering wheel for my 1984 corvette. Any suggestion how to put the new one on to make it easy.
I have read about it and it doesn't sound to bad but the talk about a spring puller or something to do with the spring. I just want to make it easy. Any suggestion
Thanks

You'll take the wheels off with a nut, it will be sort of stuck on the hub, so you just smack it kinda hard at the top/bottom, left/right to free it. If you bought an aftermarket steering wheel, you'll attach the hub adapter to that, then put all your bolts back on. Real simple with no airbags to worry about.

You can buy a steering wheel pull set as cheap as you can rent one. That you have to have. Report back when you buy one.

What type of steering wheel puller do you need. I see all different types.

Default different steering wheel

I don't really like the steering wheel in my 1988 C4 and would like to buy one in a different style, e.g. I like this one: http://www.jegs.com/i/Grant/470/440/...oductId=746022

Can anyone tell me the dimensions I need for that, so that the new wheel will fit? It's hard to find any information about that

Thank you

When I search for 1988 Corvette C4 steering wheel I always just find the original styling, e.g. http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/catal...ml&q=&x=31&y=8

But I have already seen pictures where there were other steering wheels in the car. Maybe there are any adapters?

You'll need a tool to depress the steering wheel lock. The lock is under spring pressure. I'd watch a video before you start.

A simple straight bar 2 bolt puller will do well with 5/16-18 bolts the correct length OR a harmonic balancer puller will work also with the correct bolts. Either should be available as a loaner from the chain AP stores. I'd buy also a 5/16-18 hex socket set-screw to use to lock the travel aspect of the column until done. Pay attention to where the travel lever is attached. If the loaner tool has really beat bolts just maybe buy new bolts the correct thread. Don't force anything.

Many can be removed with a jerk or if there's a helper available leave the nut on the shaft after loosening and strike the shaft with a dead-blow or proper diameter rod and hammer while helper applies tension. A first timer/novice might just be better off getting a correct puller.

Where did you get your wheel? The horn contact hardware under the wheel is different for various years. If it's not a correct wheel there's potential issues.

If you bought NEW and it's "other than" a direct replacement style OE you're sure to have issues. Post back with what you've really bought. A link to the product or a snapshot, maybe both.

Ok, do I not just need a Steering wheel puller for this? I found a shop that sells Grant steering wheels and also the installation kits and steering wheel pullers. I will ask them for the right ones that will fit the '88 C4.

I can't find a video for this c4 but I guess it will be pretty much the same as in this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG0nNPfhVs8 Wont't it?

Yeah, I'm sorry. Every time I pull a steering wheel it's not to replace it, but to fix something in there.
