I see you asked a question about it. Did you buy it?

Makes me feel really, really good about the '61 I purchased last year that was in much better shape at about the same price point.

Jerry- If you got it, congrats. Looks like a really good start on having a nice 62. Good deal.

Eh, I attempted to use ebay several times over the years to buy a car somewhat local to chicago. Didn't seem to matter if it was a Corvette, Camaro, Tri-five, etc. every time I would attempt to contact seller to view the car, 95% of the time the seller was unexpectedly out of town until the auction ended. A few years ago I bid on a 67 Chevelle SS 396 that was about an hour away. Every time I wanted to view the car the seller had excuse after excuse why he was not available. Seller told me since I was local to bid on the car and if it wasnt everything he described, I could walk away. I bid on the car and won, but then the seller "that turned out to be a dealer" stated I couldn't view the car until I pay-pal a $3000 deposit as to not "waste" his time. Offered to bring $3k in cash and pay the remainder after seeing the car in person. The seller quickly turned into a jerk stating "your wasting my time!" "You can't see the car until you pay the 3k! Or I will report you!"
Needless to say I didnt buy the car. Funny how in ads and descriptions they promise the world, and then things quickly change.
Caveat Emptor baby. We have all looked at cars that sounded amazing over the phone, only upon arrival, the car is nothing as described. I always loved the "gee...car never made that sound before, I don't know what that chatter is, it will buff out, or my personal favorite...But its an easy fix!
Keep looking! It wasnt meant to be. Good luck with your search!

I went to look at a 1958 Corvette that popped up on Craigslist not long ago. Looked like a nice car in the pictures. It was being sold for the family by the son of his deceased dad. When I got there and inspected it, it was easy to tell it had been hit very hard in the front, had a bent frame and body repairs that looked like they were done by a cement contractor.

It's real easy to get shafted in a purchase on one of these. If you aren't comfortable, walk away like Jerry did.

Do you have an acquaintance in law enforcement that could run the VIN in a month or so? This would tell who's name is on the title and what town they live in. Just a suggestion...........

Jerry,
I agree with you completely. If the person won't talk I won't buy.
Me and you I am sure can tell a lot about a person through a conversation.
It was not meant to be.
You could buy my 57 FI, PG car which is now on Ebay, I will talk.
But you know what a PITA a 4360 unit is.... Not true.

Whoever works in law enforcement today and would do a favor like this is crazy or foolish or both. And he better have a skill outside of LE because if caught in an audit he will very soon be looking for a new line of work.

TRUE, TRUE.
You can't hide a search that you have done on a computer as in a police person searching a vin database.
I have been told that some car dealers have access through their insurance companies to check out vin,s

Just curious Bruce - you bailing out of the C1 market or its just time to let this particular piece go and 'thin the herd' a bit ??

I sold my '61 last month and then naturally, this month's NCRS Restorer arrived last night and just happens to have a full color photo on the back cover of a gorgeous Honduras Maroon '61 with Ermine White side coves on it

Coincidence? I don't think so. Those b@stards...

[sorry about the thread hijack]

And he should - its a great car....

Just kidding though, once I let 'em go its because I'm "over" that particular piece....

If I hadn't sold it, it was gonna be trailered over to you-know-who's place for an LS-3 and Billy Dawson conversion...

Do you think he'll park it in the Frankie the Fink Was Here parking spot, just for old times sake?
Talk about kicking Frankie when he's down.

Frankie down? I thought he was all excited about some new C2 project he is working on, per his previous posts?
