Default 1959 Corvette at ProTeam

What am I missing on this 1959 Corvette that ProTeam has for sale? The front quarter panels clearly say "Fuel injection" but the description that is provided states that the car has a 283 ci / 230 hp 4 spd NUMBERS MATCH. I enjoy looking at ProTeam's website as they provide really good photos however isn't this gross misleading?? I'm still learning..........

Or is it the mtr & transmission are correct for each other and just not correct for the car? Possible loop hole for honesty?

Correct.......the description that Proteam provides states: 1045H..1959 Corvette Convertible, 283-230 hp, 4 speed, numbers match

The front quarter panels have the script: "Fuel Injection" on them. How is this a "numbers match" with a car that has "Fuel Injection" on it?

It's like a 91 coupe I saw at a local show. On the back rear bumper, a ZR-1 emblem was there.....aaaaaannnnd not a ZR-1.

A former owner added the fuel injection script...it's not even in the proper location.

I've looked at ProTeam's ads for quite some time and enjoy looking at what they have for sale especially with all the pics. Just seems contradictory to have a carburetor motor in a car that has "fuel injection" on the quarter panel and state that it's "numbers match". I guess it is so wrong that someone looking for a car such as that should notice this without it being stated. Oh well, I'm still learning............

Default Car

I think you are interpreting that "numbers match" means all original. In fact, it means nothing.

It's not the type of car that Michaelis normally stocks for sale. I would guess it's a trade in on a more "correct" NCRS type car. Or could be product of an estate sale or who knows? Anyway, it is what it is and is not. The "fuel injection" script is just an add on and my bet would be on the 283/230 horse being more accurate. Curiously, it looks to have the wide wheels but no mention made in the description. Based on all that, it appears to be a decent, interesting driver. No comment on the asking price.

it also has the 6500 RPM tach, not used on low horsepower engines.

After being used and abused for 57 years, any car like this will be a mishmash of parts, so you have to accept that. Or not.

After you purchase a car from them then you can go to Piper's. Another great place to over pay.

Wannabes added performance emblems and street hustlers removed them.

I'm still wondering how any 1959 can ever be a "number match" when there no VIN on the block to "match?"

I remember seeing a beautiful 57 chevy at a local show several years back. the hood wasn't open but it had the fuel injection script on the fenders; I had never seen a real live 57 FI car and was interested in seeing one...

I finally found out where the guy lived and went to visit; to my dismay it was a TPI injection system....

In my younger days when I was a little dumber then now, I purchased a 57FI corvette. The price was right and I found out later why. It had the script on the side and correct engine numbers but what really sold me on thinking the car was real was the accelerator arm was round. These were used only on the FI cars and not the standard flat arm that you find on carb cars. In my ignorance I thought no one was reproducing the round arms. Anyway when I pulled the right head to replace head gasket, I saw where the number pad had been machined and restamped.
