I have a forged LS6 347 procharged and today driving in the city in 90 degree fla heat car got up to 230 degrees driving in stop and go trafic under 40-45 mph. Once I drive to about 50-55 The coolant will com back down pretty fast. Is all this normal or not? Driving on the hwy stays around 200-210. Oil temps in the city get to 235 degrees. Thoughts, advice thanks. Its an automatic with tranny cooler.

Also I recently cleaned any debree front and behind radiator.

Also I do hear a fan can't tell if both fans are running or not when I turn the car off. How to tell if both fans are running?

You can turn on the AC in traffic to cool down motor. On highway, temp should be 190-200.

Factory temp settings are low speed on at 226 degrees and off at 219 degrees. High speed on at 235 degrees and revert to low speed at 226 degrees. As stated both fans run at low speed and high speed and fans are commanded off by the PCM when the vehicle speed exceeds 35mph.
You can force low speed operation at 185 degrees by turning on the AC. High speed operation with AC on is still 235 degrees.

If his supercharged car didn't have any cooling upgrades, it's very likely his cruising temperature will be a bit higher than most C5's, 200-210 instead of 190-200 seems very reasonable.

In any event, he's not overheating, and the temps come right back down when he gets up to speed or when the high speeds kick in at 235 (because he didn't say it gets above 230).

Not overheating, stop worrying about it, your fans and radiator are fine, go drive the car.

I took the car out on the hwy maintaining speeds about 75-80 mph. Temps stayed at 199-200 with A/C on. oil temps where 225 As soon as I got back into the city. Temps go back up to 220-230. Stop lights 90 degree temps in Fla, its always driving 40 mph and under. Once I get to about 50 mph and higher coolant temps seem to be ok.

wouldn't do lap days with that cooling system but those temps are fine for street driving.

would absolutely get a larger radiator and dedicated oil cooler before you go racing

if your fans are stock in the tune having the AC on will force low speed operation regardless of mph
