2005 OEM H-pipe vs. 2008 OEM X-pipe
I had my local shop switch out the stock H-pipe on my 05 C6 today for a brand new OEM X-pipe for an 08 C6. I had a Flowmaster Force II axle-back system installed a week or so ago and I was trying to eliminate a rather harsh, low frequency drone on slight, part-throttle acceleration. Here are the results:
The 08 X-pipe did not change the volume (loudness) of the exhaust at all that I can tell. What it did was change the tone. It's hard to describe, but the exhaust now sounds smoother, more refined; more "articulated." The drone I had on slight acceleration is still there, it's just not as obnoxious as before because the tone is a higher pitch. And now when you really get into the throttle and wind it out, the exhaust literally screams--whereas before it was just a deep roar that kept building as the revs increased. All in all, I much prefer the sound of the exhaust with the X-pipe versus the H-pipe.
