Does your vette ever get negative attention?

Do people try to get aggressive with you, say things, try to race you, etc.

My buddy had his 5 series keyed a while ago in California, so I'm wondering if vette owners have similar problems

Once at Sheetz filling up some asshat said to me "You must have a tiny ***** to drive a car like that." I told him "Your wife never complained." He stopped talking. :-)

I don't think a-holes and haters have any brand loyalty... Anything nice that belongs to someone else is fair game to them...

the world isnt always pleasant. There are people who dont have squat and when they see something nice that somebody has, their primitive instinics cuts in and they do things like that. Judging from the number of Corvettes I see on the road I would have to guess the vast majority are not daily drivers, nor often parked anywhere, but I know there are many around.

But never is their only one reason. A second theory might be that your 5Beemer guy pissed someone off in traffic and they watched him park, then retaliated. Many reasons, all bad

While I cant say I've had negative attention for sure, if I had to guess, Id have to say yes.

I made the mistake once of leaving the roof off my car at a Houlihans. When I got back to the car, there were footprints on the passenger's seat and door. Some idiot obviously got in the car, jumped around on the seat and got out of the car by climbing on the door.

This was an isolated incident-I've had no other problems since.

I have a lot of aggression towards my Vette. Every jag off from Hampton Roads tries to race me or cut me off.

Any time you have a nice, sporty or expensive vehicle you can bet someone will want to play games with you. Sad, but that's just the way it is.

So far, no negative attention in parking lots with this Vette. I've had a few lower end Beamers try to get into a race on the Interstate, won't waste my time on them.

Nothing negative yet.. but I'm new. I can say I feel as though everyone is watching me though (making me real self conscious), because they are. This car turns heads.

I suppose I'll get used to it at some point.

Back in 1998 I stopped at a Taco Bell for a snack, left the top off my then new C5, came back out with my food and some one threw their trash in the passenger seat. In the 18 or so years since then I have not had any other problems.
Since I have had the C7 it has been positive responses from every person that I have been near. Every one seems to love the C7.

Yes, I have had negative reactions. Especially from diesel pick-ups. My most positive reactions come from people that are struggling in life. I am always getting thumbs up from these folks. They seem so happy with the car-no envy at all.

Someone spit on my C7 at a Cosco store.

I have a crappier car that I take when I have to go to places like taco bell, wally world, and Costco.

This type of thing rarely happens at say... Morton's or Ruth Chris.

I am not saying you deserve to have this happen to you. I am just saying when I eat at taco bell I keep an extra close eye on it.

Eating at Taco Bell and shopping at Walmart? Really?

1-Just this past Sunday, B-I-L, you know the 2 best days of Vette ownership: Day you buy it and day you sell it. Whatever.

2-Above comment about diesel trucks is true. Why?

3-And it seems everybody wants to race, I don't give in to temptation, but this one is funny!

I drive my F250 to places where the Vette may get damaged.
Use a little common sense as to where you go.
Remember, the Gene Pool is getting pretty shallow.

I had this happen too! Driving past an apt complex that was not exactly high rent. Young guy crossing the street eyeing me.
To my shock he gives me a thumbs up! That thumbs up meant more than any other.

I get a big kick out of the guys that want to race. Driving a Vette is very efficient since many of the cars ahead of you will floor it.
They get out of your way and take that ticket for you

Years ago while living in a large apartment complex, I owned a Camaro that was keyed from headlight to brake light. I had literally just finished spending more than 3 hours washing/detailing it and had gone inside to get a drink. The douchebag(s) must have been watching because I was only inside 5 minutes and the damage was done. Adding insult, they left an empty beer bottle laying in the cowel. If I could have found whoever was responsible he would have had marks no rubbing compound would remove.

So far my new Stingray has only elicited thumbs up and positive comments, and only one challenge (an R/T Charger, which I ignored). Couldnt care less about the haters.

Nothing wrong with Taco Bell and Walmart either.

I'm reminded of when I was a teenager and had a buddy with a hopped-up Olds. When at a stoplight and someone pulled along side to race (which we did often but not at stoplights) he would rev the engine. When the light turned green he would let the person take off in a puff of smoke from burning tires (only skinny tires 'back way when") and he would make a turn!

Made no difference where we were going and if he was in right of left lane. He just turned! Have done that once with the C7 for fun!
