Default 2016 vs 2017

Getting ready to let my 09 Z (22k miles and valves checked good along with warranty until 2018!) go and dealing with decision of 16 leftovers or ordering new. Prices slightly better on 16's but finding what you want is difficult. I qualify for GM employee discount and it appears (by web page) that it is applicable on the 2017 Z06. Seems like the best way to get my preferences is order, if I can find a dealer that will deal with me. I also have $3k GM points but not sure I will be able to use them. Any thoughts?

If you can't find what you want then isn't your decision already made? I qualify for GMS and had every intent on buying a GS. Once I saw the 20% off MSRP I made the leap into a Z06. The car I got was optioned way higher than what I was going to order. 20% worked for me in this case but might not for everyone. Wish I could've double dipped the 20% off with GMS but doesn't work that way anymore. No idea on GM points.

I would go for a 2017. You'll get the new supercharger lid along with the other improvements (secondary radiator if you get the manual + other possible stuff we don't know about yet). Not only that, the fact that your C6 Z06 has lower miles and warranty through 2018 will help you get more money towards the new car (whether you trade it or sell it yourself).

Regarding GM points, I would definitely talk to a forum dealer about them and you may as well order from one while you're at it.

Best of luck with the future purchase

for now its simply a money issue, pay $30k more for a 2017 or buy a 2016.your choice.20k off 2016,or buy 2017 and lose 10k the second it leaves the dealer.real facts.

The delta is 10% at most...probably more like 5% when you factor resale value of a 16 vs 17. Msrp is basically identical, 16's are selling for up to 20% off, 17's selling for up to 10% off.

If you can find a 16 very close to your specs and you dont care about overheating or minor interior changes then go 16.

I know some guys have overheated on this forum, but I just got back from Sebring in 91F ambients and had zero issues. So YMMV on that problem and I wouldn't let is stop you from buying a 2016 M7. The A8 is a different beast and issue altogether.

The longer you wait the less your car will be worth.

I'm in the same boat. Was real close to buying a leftover 2016 at the 20 percent off going rate, but couldn't find what I wanted and all the ones I found came with stuff on it I didn't want, which drove up the price lowering the amount I would save vs a 2017 ordered the way I want.

As we all know the 2017's will have some improvements they'll tell us about and likely some they may not that have been incorporated in the 2017's. I'm driving around in a perfect condition 2012 CTS-V sedan to keep me happy till I get around to ordering a 2017 maybe around Christmas or so.

Since you've got the 2009 for now, probably best to wait just a little bit till the 2017's are out for a little while to see if any bugs show up with them before ordering.

Check with McCulkin in NH. They offered 10% on my ordered 16 Z06
they have a lot of cars in the lot and on the floor. They are one of the biggest dealers, straight up guys.
Good luck the car is amazing.

order a 2017 z06 from macmulkin. They should be able to give you 10% off and you can add your 3000 in Gm card points. They can also have it delivered from factory to a local dealer near you for a small courtesy fee. I just did it on a 2017 z06. The local dealer charged just under 200 for courtesy fee but some are higher.
