It's been a long while since they manufactured that Titanium system. You'd have to get lucky and find it on the used market.

Hear one in person first......

My cammed longtube / offload X-piped LS2 6-speed droned so bad I yanked them off and sold them. Beautiful system but if you ditch the cats I wouldn't buy one.

Corsa has ZERO drone even without cats. I had about 6 different systems on my car....Corsa all the way!

Default Akrapovic Exhaust

I have ARH long tube ceramic coated headers, a cat-less X pipe w/ akra Evo titanium mufflers. I also have a Dashlogic unit that has 3 exhaust modes, quiet, normal and power. Using the quiet mode when listening to the radio or conversing with the wife definitely tames the drone monster! W/O the quiet/normal mode, it can be an unbearable beast.

What makes a drone so bad the off-road ex pipe. ? Or the mufflers. Thanks for the info.

I have the titanium version on 2 different cars (with cats). No drone open or closed, I have never considered anything else.

I have the full Ti system on a stock car with a DashLogic and think it definitely drones when open. The "quiet" mode just prevents the other two pipes from EVER opening but doesn't sound any different than normal mode if you don't get into it. When closed, it's definitely louder than stock, but about like any other exhaust system. I wouldn't call closed mode a drone, but just louder overall at all RPMs. The stock system is crazy quiet when closed.

When open, Akras are barely louder at idle vs closed Akras, but around 1500 RPM it definitely drones and gets A LOT worse when under load. Going up a slight hill and between 1500-2000 RPM it actually shakes the inside of the car. Around town on flat ground is tolerable so that's the only time I leave them open, and I can chose the gear to avoid the RPM range that drones the worst. I also just had the cats replaced under warranty and now have the 2012-13 system with 4 cats and it still drones when open just like with the older 2 cat system.

The EVO system with X-pipe isn't an off road setup because on 09-11 ZR1s the cats were in front of the x-pipe. It was just another way to drop 10-20 more pounds by replacing the OEM stainless x-pipe with the Akra titanium 9lb pipe. 2012-13 ZR1s use a 4 cat system and the back 2 cats are part of the x-pipe so the Akra x-pipe isn't compatible. My 11 was forced to update to this system and it kills me that the replacement pipe is 39+lbs vs the 9lb titanium one that's now sitting in my attic.

Exhaust sound, and drone, can change slightly depending on where the "X" is placed in the x-pipe but it probably won't change that much. It has more to do with air flow and not the sound as much. Muffler design is what usually causes the drone. Both the Akra and the OEM system are straight through on the inner (I think) tail pipes and surprised me how much different sounding they were when all 4 are open. I guess the "muffler" part for the other 2 tail pipes is where most of the drone and regular exhaust note comes from and where Akra probably has a much different design than the OEM mufflers.

The diameter of the tubes, the internal baffles, and any insulation (if used) determines the resonance of the system, which in my experience is between 1500-2000 RPM on the Akras when all 4 pipes are open. Most V8s drone around 2000RPM and this is the first car I've owned that drones as low as 1500.

From what I've read 20-22 lbs. But will not bolt up to long tubes. I know more when mine shows up.

The C6 Z06 and ZR1 are the same. I never weighed the exhaust but it is extremely light. According to Akrapovic the Ti is 11Kg or 24Lbs less than factory exhaust less X pipe. I had the Ti X pipe but sold it since it would mate to my headers. Google is your friend.

Some great info I've tried to read up as much as I could because I'm definitely interested but surely don't want to have the drone so bad that it's unbearable. You guys are a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Thanks for for the great info. 👍
