Default Bought a 72 today.

Got my "new" 72 today. First car I actually looked at and had what I wanted and the price was right. Original big block car with a small block now. Will put in a BB and a 4 speed over the winter. Paint is real nice and the interior is in very nice shape. It just needs some small odds and ends.

Congrats, she's beautiful! Love the color, but I'm obviously biased haha.

NICE look car man, but depending on your plans for the car.....garage queen/cruise in driver, daily driver, stick with the SBC, you want a drag strip fun car...yeh BBC......

Driving habits....city/short suburban, short work trips....4 speed is fine....

In the Wash DC region my 4 speed '72 went from 2-4 in typical traffic flow, never needed first or 3rd.....damn rarely anyway....it was a L48 SBC in those days....then I went L98injection

Down here in Florida some 19 years ago, I put in a roller engine and a overdrive automatic trans.....needed the OD for the higher freeway speeds.....in DC you hit 80 for maybe a minit or so, here in Florida you cruise all day long.....poor engine cranking 4k is not so happy on I 95......

Looks good. It's nice you don't have to worry about the paint and can focus on the mechanicals.

Congrats! Welcome to the 72 club. Keep the SB. If you want more power, beef up the small block.

I'll be the little devil that stands on your shoulder opposite the angel on your other shoulder. Put a big block back in that good looking car. Small blocks are fine and their owners have no need or reason to "defend" their engine of choice. But, and it's a large butt, there is something magical about a 4sp C3 with a big rat lurking beneath the bonnet. An aggressive cam and "liberal" exhaust note make for good vibrations in you and the car. I've had two small blocks and they were fine. In fact, wasn't long ago a '69 with a 383 stroker beat me. I had him through the end of 3rd gear and then he pulled away. It's all good. Send pix when you get it the way you want it.
Bet you were grinning ear to ear when you got it home.

A big block is going back in. It's only a matter on how big of one will be in there. Yes the smile was wide. I have wanted a chrome bumper car for awhile now.

Congrats and welcome from another '72 owner!
My SB puts plenty of smiles on my face but it's your car so if a BB and a 4 speed make you happy, go for it!

When the 572 first came out, I saw a 71 with one shoe horned in. He told me that he had to make a few modifications, not sure what anymore but it sire was a beautiful engine bay. Then he fired it up - magnificent! Enjoy determining which bb to drop in and post plenty of pics.
