Default Problem with 2017 GS Bra

After asking around for the correct part number for a 2017 GS bra, I was given 84092161 by a few CF vendors.

I received the bra last night and tried to install it. The hooks went into the lower part of the grill without a problem but it was impossible to hook the fasteners under the fascia. The amount of material on the bra was insufficient to make it around the fascia and to any point of attachment.

Also, the clips onto the wheel trim REALLY stretched the material and, in turn, put a LOT of pressure on the trim. Not good!

The felt covered tabs for inserting around the lights are about twice the thickness of previous GM bras making it next to impossible to insert into the space between the light and fenders. (Yes, I used the credit card trick)

So....HELP!.....

I am certain I am installing correctly....I did this with my previous 'vettes. Either the part number is incorrect...or the design of the 2017 GM bra hasn't been tested on a '17 GS.

So anyone successfully install a GM bra on a 2017 Grand Sport?

Please only respond if you have any information on a 2017 GS GM bra...I am not, at this point, interested in an other manufacturer.

Thanks all!

Rebel Yell posted his problems with the GM bra on his road trip. It was an epic failure in his words from the hooks slipping and the bra actually tearing.
He posted this yesterday, check it out. If I was you I would not use the bra I would return it for a refund.

Here's the link of mine after approx. 400 miles at speed on I-70. However, one of the posters who had the same problem said GM has redesigned the bra, so I may have gotten an older version. As far as the fit I always put my bra in the sun for approx. 30 mins before the install so they will stretch easier. To get the felt tabs between the fender, and lights I use a nylon trim tool. And as far as the clips under the front of the bumper I had to lay on the floor, and use the same nylon trim tool to get a bit of a space to slip the clips in between the black shroud, and the edge of the bumper cover. These C7 bras are quite different than the C6 bras, and thinner also. Good luck, it will fit after a little work if you still choose to install it.

I'm not sure what my options will be until Patrick at CULTRAG gets back with me. I do like the thicker bra to protect from the high speed projectiles that come from the big trucks on the road when I'm on a road trip, so I'm not sure what I'll do at this point.

And this helps how? Yes, I do and will continue. This type bra has saved my C6 on several occasions. They do not discolor the paint if you don't leave them on all the time. I know they are ugly, but they work.

No sir, it was a base car. But from the looks of the bra I'm guessing they are installed basically the same way.

Thanks all!

Tried installing mine yesterday.
A poorly designed bra will never work.
After paint chips from the plastic clips and no room to install the tabs around the head lights, I gave up.
Piece of junk!
GM should be ashamed.
If you had a GM Bra from the C6 you know what I am talking about.

Once again I agree Ron. I'm hoping for a refund for at least some of the purchase price so I can look elsewhere.

Negative....there are big differences...which is why I noted the problems encountered in the original post....and indicated the HELP was needed for a 2017 Grand Sport.

Thanks anyway!

Mine is a 2016 Stingray w Z51 option, which makes no difference.
The GM part number is the same as in your post.
It is junk!
