Default Should I break loose the tires?

With an automatic c5 if I floor it from a stop should it spin the tires with the traction control turned off? I just got it and haven't driven it that much and want to get used to how the car reacts before gassing it. Btw, it has really low mileage.

Any tips on driving it?

I know it's a silly question but just wondering.

Thanks.

With the rear gears in a auto C5, it's gonna be harder to break the tires loose then a manual. Also your tires will factor in to that a lot also.

If you're pulling a big gear....273 (stock in auto), it might be difficult.
Many factors come into play....mileage, tune, tires and bolt on's.
Turn off the traction control and give it a try, then start the mods.

Default Yes

Mine will, with an exhaust, and intake aftermarket replacements.

I have Bridgestone RE-760's, and (with our temp now in the mid-60's) it will break them loose for an instant WITH the TC on. (Love to watch the DIC tell me TC is hard at work!) It will even break loose in summer with the TC off. I have 2.73 gears.

Wow, I'm surprised. I've had 2 C5's but both have been M6's and I have to be careful to NOT spin 'em even with TC on. So when I read the OP I just kind of chuckled but then after reading the replies I was really surprised.

I put my '03 in competition mode once (in a BIG empty parking lot) and got on it in 1st and 2nd. It was fun but controlled wouldn't exactly be my description. Put the systems back on and left 'em there.

With the TC off just hold the brake with left foot while giving it gas. You'll burn plenty of rubber. Letting off the brake you could lose control.

An auto won't spin from a stop without holding the break?!? Even with the TC on?!?

WOW! That's probably a good thing, but just WOW.

Traction control is the first button I push after starting the car. If you can't control it without the nannies it's time to buy a Camry

Remember that an auto vs manual, you have a difference in power coupling. Fluid vs mechanical.
With my a4, I turn off the tc, apply brakes, then floor the gas. Slightly let off the brakes until the tires are spinning good, then totally release the brakes.
If I do this with the brakes applied and the tc on, the engine basically, acts like it should and sits there and stutters as if it hits like a rev limiter.

My 98 is a A4 with 3.15 gears and with the stock 275 run flats, it would spin the tires, not a whole lot but she would spin them. Then i changed wheels and put 305 hankooks out back and the car wouldn't spin at all, she would just hook up. Then i did a few more mods and got the car tuned and now when launching from a stop i get very little wheel spin. The car hooks up well on the street so I'm happy.

My 01 vert would spin the worn factory run flats with the 273 gears tc off. With Michelin pilot sports it would not spin without some power breaking or going around a corner. I changed to 342 gears and a small stall, it would spin all the way through first, into second off idle. It felt like a completely different car. gears are my choice for the best bang mod for anyone with an a4 and 273 gears

dont you lie, even with the stroker and the blower you can't spin the tires.
