Wireless back up camera
Anyone try this wireless back up camera on their car. Connects to the car obd port and turns your phone into instant back up camera. Takes just a few minutes to install on the rear license plate bracket. Just wondering.

I have been eyeballing the Pearl also. I really want a backup camera but don't really want to swap out my radio just for this option.

The Pearl looks VERY promising and the price isn't bad.
Let me know if you try it!

499.00??
I haven't tried this camera but 499.00 seems crazy high
you can get a new head unit and add a camera for that much or a little less. And the image will show up on the screen not your phone.

I installed a hard wired camera with a monitor for less than $250. It took me about 3-4 hours and I am a slow worker.

I grabbed a Pearl RearVision on eBay yesterday for $200... (WIN). I will post pictures and review when I get it put on.
I already have the ProClip C6 mount for my iPhone (which is always in the cradle).

Is a backup camera more of a gimmick? I wonder how many people have actually hit something when backing up? I've been driving over 40 years and I never have.

I disagree with you. I go to a lot of Corvette events. People prefer to back into the parking spots. A good number of them ask for someone to help guide them. I would really like to have a backup camera.

They are not a gimmick. I had a 2013 Nissan Altima that was equipped with a backup camera and it saved me a couple of times, although I had to remind myself to use it.

After years of car shows with my Mustang and my C3, I'm pretty good at backing into spaces without a backup camera. With the C6 I usually turn the right side rearview mirror down toward the ground so I can use the parking space stripe as a guide. My '13 Altima actually did that automatically when backing up. The passenger side rear view would depress to show the curb.

"Hitting fewer things" isn't necessarily the metric here. I think most drivers just don't attempt to back up in certain situations for lack of visibility. With a camera, they could.

My windows are tinted very dark. Backing into a spot at night would be impossible without rolling down a window if I didn't have a camera. A front camera is also nice if your car is super low. You can easily gauge what you can and cannot just roll over. .
