Default '95 Z heading to Marc Haibeck

Planning on taking my project '95 Z to Marc for some much needed upgrades. Spoke with him a few times, as well as Doug Rippie, and Marc was able to get to it a little sooner and I have heard nothing but great things about him and his shop.

510 HP Package which includes
- Fidanza Flywheel
- Ported plenum
- Ported heads
- Stainless long tube headers
- Custom tune and Chassis dyno

Also:
- New clutch
- New injectors
- New vacuum hoses
- New coil packs
- Block plenum coolant
- Painted plenum & cam covers (Torch Red)
- Install Van Steel coilovers along with Van Steel sway bar Heim joints

I'm sure there will be quite a few other maintenance items that need to be replaced while the engine is out. Trying to get time available next week to make the trip up to drop off the car. It's in pretty sad shape now but my vision for the car is pretty clear. Get the mechanical items addressed, then start fitting up the carbon fiber body panels once it comes home in 5-6 weeks. Finally it will get a new red grand sport style black and red interior with admiral blue paint.

Also excited to pick up the frame from SRIII for the '57 corvette Restomod that's about to get started while I'm in the Chicago area.

Hi Rob,

I haven't re-read this thread, but I would also recommend 4.10 gears along with Bill Boudreau's modified stock short shifter.

I have a yellow '95 with Marc's 510 package and these items. The 4.10's really give the car a "race car" feel.

Just emailed Marc and asked him about changing the gears, I've read quite a few post suggesting 4.10 gears.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I've bought a hurst short throw shifter that I will be installing.

I certainly second that. 4.10s and a short shifter (Hurst) along with a Corsa exhaust were some of the first mods I did on my '93 back in the mid Nineties and also the first mods done to my '95 in 2012, just before my Haibeck 510 package was done. I really loved the 4.10s and short shifter. Both Bill's or Hurst are great. Great improvements on either a stock or modified car.--Bob

Of course if you are having Marc's work done, you are getting headers such as Stainless Works.

Opinions on exhaust have evolved over the years. I have a Corsa system and love it. Part of what may have helped give me a great sound (mho) is that I went with high flow cats (sound preference vary and I love mine).

Anyway, if you get the Corsa, I would try to get a system with their "Black Diamond" tips. Then before installing it, what I did, was Scotch brite (scratch up) the muffler can bright work real good and paint it black with muffler paint (like stock).

The reason I mention this route is with your "race car" type look and black wheels, this would be awesome (again mho).

Actually planning on having a custom exhaust system made with a center exhaust outlet box approx. 3" tall x 20" wide in the center of the CF rear bumper, it has a carbon fiber flat tray that extends back to the tires with a 3" open screen along the bottom.

I'll either do that, or do a side exit with stainless flange just behind the rear tires. I love the Corsa sound may end of trying to just buy their mufflers for my setup.

Not planning on putting cats back on it.

It sounds like you will have a thoroughly thought out exhaust planned. I guess I wouldn't expect that you would be putting cats on. The reason I mentioned that is that there was the "thought in the back of my mind" about some owners feeling that a Corsa is too "tinny" sounding. Cats vs no cats seems to play a part in the sound quality.

May have to reconsider using cats to get the right sound.

I'm running full SW exhaust on my '91 with Marc's tune. Headers to tips along with metal matrix cats. Very nice sound and have had many compliments from other owners. Some drone at highway speed (70-75) when under light load, but not bad at all. Will watch for video and results when Marc finishes up..

The Z is ready to go, looking forward to meeting a few of you guys, visiting with Marc about the car, and seeing the SRIII shop on Saturday.

The car is pretty rough, I didn't spend much time fixing detailing, when it comes back from Marc it will be blown apart and fitted with body panels and the interior will be gutted and new black/red interior will go back in.
