Who To Choose For Rear End Rebuild?
"Well there's your problem"
I've done torn apart my rear end... let me tell you somethin; Taco Bell sounds good drunk and at midnight but the next day... j/k =P Actually no, not kidding... don't eat Taco Bell. Your butthole will regret it.
Anyways, it's all out and I'm looking to ship it somewhere to have a pro rebuild it all (both trailing arms, differential, new u-joints, etc.).
I'm leaning towards Gary at Vtech (bit confused, is he the owner... does he still work there? Their site doesn't mention him). Anyone use them recently? Would like to know change of owners hasn't happened and the place went to **** recently.
Anyone got any other recommendations? Preferably near Tampa Florida. Would love to save on shipping, this is going to cost an arm and a leg as it is.

Well ****... now what? They still good? Gary still doing diffs and trailing arms?
Who else would be a viable option?

If he sold it to a long time employee I would say they are still doing good work. If it was sold to an outsider with limited training from Gary then I would question the quality of the work.

Mike Dwyer, tracdogg2, on the forum. He's in suburban Dallas. Did a great job on my differential and many others on the Forum have recommended him. PM me if you need a phone number.
I bought rebuilt rear bearings from Van Steel. I believe they have a lifetime warranty. Gary and Mike have been mentioned numerous times as the experts on differentials.
I don't know if Van Steel rebuilds differentials. I didn't find this crack until after I bought everything from VS otherwise I might have looked into it.

Hell yea, Van Steel is literally 10 min from where I live. I'll check them out. Can anyone chime in with their experience with them?
Most of what I'm finding on these forums sounds good but it's all more than a few years old.

And just to be sure... we're talking about this place right?

I can't help but notice that their services says differential rebuilds "63-79" :\

Gary Ramadei rebuilt my diff and trailing-arms back in 2010/11 time frame.
Very pleased with his work and there have been no problems.
His documentation and communication regarding the work was outstanding.
One of these days I'm going to be sending my steering box to him for a rebuild.

Mine was sent to a company that maybe operating under a new name now .
Or out of business.
They were in Florida , Im thinking the business was called Florida Brake and Caliper. They also did a lot of diffs.
That was in 1991 ......so who ever they were knew what they were doing.

I have never heard any (reasonable) person complain about Gary or Mike. I had Mike do my trailing arms and rebuild my Diff. Great to work with.

No doubt Mike and Gary are the go to guys, but unless someone can tell me to not go with Van Steel, I'm going with them. Shipping and handling isn't going to be cheap both ways (Mike's in Dallas, and Gary's up in Illinois somewhere right?) and if Van Steel is comparable, then that's my ticket.
Like I said, anyone have any input on these guys and quality? Do they not work on 81' diff's (site only states 63-79 diff rebuilds)?
