Default blueprint 400 engine

Hello,
i want to buy engine BP4002CT1,and im a little confused...
the engine is external balanced right? i know that an external balanced engine must be balanced with balancer and flywheel installed, but the engine doesnt come with flywheel or balancer...which flywheel or balancer can i use?
can i use any external balancer or flywheel? no matter how heavy they are(aluminum or steel)?
thank you for your answers

Their website says the rotating assembly is balanced within 2 grams which means more than likely it is internally balanced. If you email and ask for suggested parts for the balancer and flywheel/flexplate you will know immediately.

Hello Badvette74.

We saw your post and wanted to thank you for your interest in BluePrint Engine's small block 400. Nice to hear from beautiful Vienna!

This engine requires an internally balanced harmonic balancer. Just like any 350. The flywheel, or flexplate for automatic transmissions, needs to be a 1986, or newer 350 for a 1 piece rear main seal. These were all externally balanced after 1986. The actual weight of the flywheel, aluminum or steel, does not matter. Just pick the one that best suits your intended use for the vehicle. The number of teeth on the flywheel, 153 or 168, does not matter either. Both will work correctly with the right application. Your 1974 Vette should have a 168 tooth flywheel.

You do not have to have the exact balancer and flywheel that the engine was balanced with to have a smooth running engine. You only need the correct application for each. We do balance all of our small blocks to less than 2 grams, closer to 1.75 grams, according to our crank department guys. In comparison, GM had an allowable of 40 grams on their small blocks.

I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you have further questions on any of our products.

What about shipping to Europe? I live very close to Austria and I was looking at those engines for quite some time now.

I like how these guys are on the spot, service even BEFORE the sale. I spoke to Blake at Blue Print Engines a few hours ago about heads; I will be getting a set.

We can ship to Europe. Send us a PM for information and we will get you a quote for freight. We would need your shipping address information and air or sea preference.

I ship things to the EU periodically. On the customs paper work you state that it is a birthday present

That exempts the item from import fees

I only wish it would be that easy.
They don't buy that at all at this side of the pond.
I was hoping that treaty with Canada will be signed by EU this week but it wasn't. That would clear any customs and tax issues if buying from Canada.

Maybe put down it is a guaranteed replacement engine for one that failed, it just might work, they might ask for the original paper work and then you will have to pay all the shipping extras but it is worth a shot.

I would guess that you are not a very bright person. Because you don't seem to know the difference between mail and taxes

No I pay a lot of money every year in taxes probably 50% when you add up everything. I would not mind it if I felt that they were going to be used for good things. But we have corruption clear up to the highest levels of government.

Just fraud, waste, and abuse

I "THIRD" this assessment after living in Ireland for 5 years. It's luck of the draw on whether what you buy gets caught up in customs; IMHO, writing "Gift" on the package makes it MORE likely to get pulled. And honestly anything as big and heavy as an engine is probably going to get pulled by customs.

No, it's not even necessarily untrue. I buy myself a birthday present almost every single year.

I was actually more in the line of a joke for something as big as an engine. but small things like power steering pumps, roller lifter and rocker sets, carbs........ I've sent a lot of birthday and Christmas presents.

An example of mail fraud: Is using the mail to defraud people. Like finding lists of Sr. Citizens and mailing them a claim form that they won a ocean cruise worth $ 25,000 and all they have to do is send you $500 deposit to redeem their cruise of a lifetime.
