Default 2013 427 Convertible

Good Afternoon,

I am seriously considering purchasing a one owner 2013 427 vert with 3500 miles.

My only reservation is concerning the car fax report... At 3000 miles the dealer replaced the crankshaft and oil pump... Have heard that some of these engines have lower end issues. The power train warranty is good until May 2018...

Any input would be great... It's a beautiful car and I plan on keeping it for several years.

Thanks

Yes, 2013 LS7's have their bottom-end issues. Is what it is at this point. Buy yourself a GMEPP warranty from Ken Fitchner (forum supporting vendor), extend it out as far as you can, and enjoy driving the car for several years.

I have a 2013 427 vert and love it, keep the extended warranty as long as you can and send your used oil to blackstone labs to check out the metals in your oil to alert you for any potential problems.

I would get more detailed information on what was actually done the motor. The reason the crank and oil pump needed to be replaced had to do with a rod bearing problem that plagued the 2013 LS7 motors that resulted in the rods rubbing together; ultimately scoring the rods, destroying the bearings and causing slow hot start issues and low idle oil pressure. So, the repair should have entailed a complete flushing of the entire oiling system, new crank, affected rods and bearings and oil pump.

If all that was changed out were the crank and oil pump, you may be buying a car that will have a delayed catastrophic engine failure.

Decided to pass on this car... Called the dealership and they pulled the service record for me.. The did replace crank, oil pump, pistons, rods, crank bearings, camshaft and cam bearings.
According to the notes, the oil pressure light came on and driver pulled over as soon as possible... but damage was already done... They said oil pump failed...
Really was excited about getting this car... especially with such low miles.

Thanks

I am not associated with this dealer at all...I actually dislike the Orr brand. Anyway, here is the info if you are interested...www.OrrVW.com. The car has 21, 495 miles on it. It is white.
