Need help choosing!! '17 Base vs '16 Z51
Sup fellas,
Im looking to get into the C7 world but finding it very hard to make the decision, which one would you pick, a brand new 16' Z51 or a brand new base 17' ?? Both at the same exact price.
I dont think i will ever autox or road course.
It will be a daily driver and weekend straight line fun car ( a few races here and there on closed courses ofcourse)
I will most likely install a headers, intake and a tune. Maybe a superxharger if i ever got bored.
So if you were in my shoes, what would you pick?
Thanks

2017 base for the reasons you stated. Not a racer -- no need to have the dry sump and all the complexity it requires. The Base car is fast enough for anything you want to do on any public highway.

And when he goes to sell the 2017 in three years it will be worth more as a trade-in as it will only be three years old instead of 4 years old.

Without any doubt the 2017 would be my choice.

FYI in 2015 Chevy introduced the new 8 speed trans (A8). While a fast shifting high tech auto trans some early production cars had shifting issues. Chevy made some beneficial corrections later into the model year and with 2016 Corvettes that further reduced numbers of A8 issues. Only fair to say many A8 owners have had no problems with their A8 trans. So between 2016 and 2017 base car to base car I would favor the 2017. However, you also said you might race at some point. That comment pushes me to the 2016 to get the Z51 performance goodies with larger brakes rotors and better suspension etc. Good luck.

No admission of guilt in breaking the law(ie: speeding, racing, reckless driving, etc) on a public highway in the US.

Guys, both will be a manual.
Base options:
1LT
Performance exhaust
Z51 options:
1LT
Performance exhaust
Long beach red color (or maybe i would go with torch red)
Black rims

Absolutely, correct! I have a base model and it does everything I need it to do.

Since no one has mentioned it, I think the ediff in the Z51 is the deciding factor. I think it has real benefits even for daily (spirited) street driving.
