Default Has anyone used Jerry Hamm Chevrolet in Jacksonville, FL

They recently changed to Riverside Chevrolet, and from I understand the staff is the same- at least in the service department. Has anyone used this dealer for service? They get decent reviews, but a good word from a member here would mean something. Thanks.

I bought my C7 from Coggin Chevy at the Avenues. Pretty decent process.

I bought a 3 Corvettes from Jerry Hamm Chevrolet. Also bought them from Gordon Chevrolet and Nimnicht Chevrolet. Over the years, I've found that all their service departments are about the same.

The only things I've had done in the recent past are oil changes and minor updates. They did just fine because I stayed with the car and watched them change the oil and fill it to the proper level with Mobil 1.

Ask them to put in 9 quarts of oil and give you the 10th quart. When you get home, let the car cool for 5 to 10 minutes and then add oil until you're halfway up the hash marks on the dipstick. Some dealers have been known to overfill the dry-sump oil systems.

Thanks for that. I spoke with the service mgr and asked that they do just that. He said it might be hard to measure out 1 QT for me to take with me. I can't see why that would be. I'll bring an empty QT container and give it a go. Thanks again.

Are you sure they're using Mobil 1? Every time I have had mine changed they used quarts of Mobil 1. Is your car a Z51 a Grand Sport or Z06?

It's a '17 GS. The service mgr ASSURED me they will use Mobil 1 and not Dexos, but added that Dexos is also a full synthetic. He said they dispense it from bulk, which kinda makes me suspicious I'll be getting Mobil 1. When I get there, if all isn't what I expect, I'll refuse and go elsewhere.

Good plan. Both Nimnicht and Gordon did oil changes for me and used Mobil 1 in quarts.

Note: their Dexos could be full-syn, but doesn't have to be (a blend meets Dexos, too, in some cases).

Sounds like Dexos, not Mobil 1. I've been to Coggin at the Avenues for oil changes and they used Mobil 1. I'm not sure if Mobil 1 is sold in bulk.

Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate the input. I called Jerry Hamm (Riverside) and couldn't get them to commit to my requests, so I cancelled and made an appointment with Nimnicht Chev. They agreed to refilling with 9 qts and giving me the 10th qt, also confirmed they will use Mobil 1. They also stated that their Corvette tech does all the work on Corvettes, even the oil changes. So, I should be good to go.

They are our car club sponsor. I've not had a bad service visit with them since I've had the car.

Had Nimnicht do the 500 miles oil change.

When I made the appointment, I asked for a couple of things.

I asked for Mobil 1, and was assured I would get Mobil 1, and Mobil 1 is what I got.

I asked for 9 qts in, and one comes with me. He did 9.5, and 1/2 came with me. I checked when I got home, and the level was right on the money. So that was done.

I asked if the Vette tech would do the oil change and was told yes, but a newbie showed up to do it, and after me witnessing him not knowing how to release the electric brake, and stalling the car 2 or 3 times, I politely refused for him to work on the car. They obliged, and the Vette tech did it.

No scratches or dirt, no damage from jacking up the car (I saw he used pucks) ... so all in all, it went okay.

Thanks for the suggestion.
