Dyno or A&A tune plus HPT?
I am in a location with one unproven shop that will charge $700 for a dyno tune. I am almost done upgrading the LS2 in my C6 and Andy will provide a tune to start. Should I skip the dyno and get HPT?
I just want it on the road and will port the heads and replace lifters later.
LS2 with,
Yella terra rockers
Trend 3/8 dual tapered pushrods
BTR dual springs w Ti retainers
FAST 102
FAST 95 lb injectors
ECS stage 1 fuel system that comes on under boost w/ an in line pump
A&A SC 8 rib 2ndary drive
Headders w/ NPP
Dewitts w/ oil cooler
Comp billet timing chain
JAM CAM blower cam
High flow oil pump
Alky control dual nozzle w/ 1.7 gallon tank
92 octane pump gas

I am doing close to the the exact same thing with my 09 LS3 converting to an A&A FI. I went through the same decision as you. I chose to go the HPT route with a safe startup tune to assist. I haven't even reached the FI install yet and HPT is proving to be a steep learning curve, but I am happy with the route I chose.
You'll need a Wideband installed if you don't already have it, BC without it, it will be impossible to get your tune dialed in, even with a safe startup.

Keep in mind you'll need a wideband also and there's for sure a learning curve getting started tuning.
That being said it's nice to be able to do it yourself, can keep an eye on things all the time and make any future adjustments you want without paying more.
And so many 'tuners' suck anyways. The more you learn about tuning the more you'll realize that.

What wideband? PLX dm6? Do I have to add another spot on the exhaust for the sensor?
Please help me short cut the wideband and just tell me which way to go.
Kit is 98% done. Meth next.
I know if I get a tune then 5 min later I will change something and then have to drop more on another dyno tune. I think HPT is the ticket. Do ppl sell the HPT used w/o licenses? I looked a bit and it looks like they don't.

Used ones pop up on eBay every once in a while but that's about it. I actually got mine on there, got lucky and it had 6 credits left. Need 2 per vehicle basically.
The new AEM 30-0333 is a pretty nice one if you're only going to be tuning C6's or newer cars. Faster than the PLX. Plugs into OBD port, HPT picks it up the same way it reads RPM, throttle, etc. so you don't have to wire it to HPT interface
So, I'd either get that or the PLX.
