Is Anyone With a 2017 A8 With NPP Getting Cabin Drone?
I can't for the life of me figure this out. Sometimes at around 30 to 40 MPH I get a loud exhaust drone in the cabin. I don't know if it's the exhaust system the V4 mode not canceling the sound out or the transmission being in two low of a gear for the driving conditions and the engine is lugging. Yesterday I drove the car and it was really annoying. The sound would come and go. Never heard anything like this on my previous C7. Hmmm I just poked around the web a bit and it seems like the boys in camaro land are having a similar NPP issue.

No not really it's the same booming drone sound I hear. It appears the A8 trucks are also having this drone issue. Just Google "Chevy Shakes" you just can't make this stuff up. Maybe it's the T/C who knows. It appears GM is having multiple issues causing vibrations and cabin booming /drone sounds over multiple platforms.

Yea I know has me a bit concerned. I only used to hear the drone when I was on exit entrance ramps making radial turns not sure why, but yesterday it started making the sound on just a regular surface road going about 38 mph. Going to have to watch it and see.

I've had drone a few times after paddle shifting. Hit the paddle to down shift with shifter in auto mode around 60 mph. Once it shifted back to auto on itself there was clearly drone. It is what it is to me

One, the C7 is not a truck. Nor, am I getting any cabin drone. Not in the Stingray nor, the Z06. Either before or after the install of the CAI and headers.

I experienced the C5 coupe exhaust or road-noise when test driving a new one in the '90s. Member Foosh, also mentioned the hollow road noise from the Corvette coupe here a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what C series he was talking about though. Foosh mentioned that is one reason why he likes the C vert, though. I was going to note whether the C7 has this echo chamber effect that the C5 coupe had. I'm not certain if it had anything to do with the exhaust noise. Maybe just road noise.

I was talking about something entirely different than exhaust drone, which the human ear perceives at certain frequencies. It's most often reported w/ aftermarket exhaust systems. I've never heard complaints about it with the OEM NPP system.
I was talking about the amount of road/tire noise in coupes vs. convertibles. My C6 Z06 and C6 Z51 coupes had a lot more road noise emanating from the rear tires than my current C7 convertible.
That's because the convertible has a rear bulkhead, which insulates the passenger cabin from that type of noise better than in the coupe where the rear cargo area isn't as insulated. That's why a lot of folks install after-market sound deadening material on the cargo-area floor of coupes.
It is a bit ironic that Corvette convertibles with the insulated top up are quieter than coupes.
