Note, if you have Blue tooth OEM, disconnecting the VCIM, will also take out the OEM blue tooth since it part of that module.

We removed the ugly Onstar box from the windshield, which keeps Onstar from communicating with the mother ship but doesn't actually kill it. Bluetooth and Nav voice commands still ok.
Our 2009 can go 2 weeks without a tender and still starts up fine, though I usually do use the tender just to be nice to our battery.

Hence the big blue square 20 amp fuse top center is the gm lan bus fuse.
So since the gm lan bus has it own power sent through it, the VCIM will still communicate with the On star board itself via the pass though on the board, but the on star module will not have it own power to do it thing instead.

A properly working OnStar won't drain your battery. My last 2 C6's had OnStar, and either one occasionally sat for 2 weeks at the airport, without a tender, and always started right up. If it's going to sit much longer than a couple weeks, a tender is a good idea, regardless of the presence or absence of OnStar equipment.
Your car -- do what you want, feel free to remove any hardware you like, but you'd be well served to be cautious using internet 'facts' like these as a basis for mods to your Corvette.

I'm with Kent1999, OnStar isn't the culprit of a drained battery.

Some of us have had problems with a malfunctioning OnStar VCIM.
With the OnStar fuse installed, the battery would be dead in just a couple of days. Parasitic electrical load (drain) was .463 amps before pulling the OnStar fuse.
The Parasitic electrical load went down to .007 amps after pulling the fuse. I can now go a couple of months without starting the car, and it will still start after setting that long.

In my case, I had a bad VCIM. I had only two choices .... Either replace the expensive VCIM module or pull the fuse.
Since I don't use OnStar in my 2011 GS, I opted to pull the fuse.
You can read about my dead battery problem and fix here:

Correct ... but many of us have had malfunctioning OnStar VCIM modules that will drain your car's battery very fast. The VCIM has been problematic in some of these cars.
You either spend big bucks for a new VCIM or pull the fuse ... it's your choice.

You don't have to remove anything ... just the OnStar fuse.
Remove the fuse and see if your NAV screen GPS fuction is effected or not ... takes but a minute.
I personally can't tell you, because I don't have NAV in my GS
