You can operate the power top manually if you wish. The Owner's Manual has instructions.

I almost did that exact conversion two weeks ago because I was having problems getting my top to go down properly. It kept binding up with the tanau cover. Come to find out one of the arms that raise the Tanau cover was. $385 later it works great now. As far as manually running the power top mine does not have the unlock button on the driver side for the Tanau cover so had to open passenger side to pull the cable
