Default parade duty today

after ll the years of owning old cars we were asked earlier this month to use a convertible in our home town "Harvest Day" parade. the route was short about a mile and half. so not that bad. and it was the local "apple" queen.

I assume from the lack of mention, there was no over heating. Our car club had to give up doing parades as they always put us behind the marching band - lots of puked antifreeze. Did the Apple Queen enjoy the ride?

no overheating at all. then it was in the mid 50's with high wind. yes she liked the car and enjoyed the ride. if the route was any further then it was I don't think I would have enjoyed it

I wonder if the Shriner Corvettes were built with extra cooling measures for parade duty ?

At least they didn't put you behind the horses! Did a parade on the Harley with the HOG group and were behind the horses. Interesting ride formation.
Oh yeah, the band was behind us. Yes the drum major stepped in the first pile. His reaction was priceless.

If its a straight stick it gives the old left knee a workout but those are fun...

And yes, I've been DIRECTLY behind horses in my '61 for a 45 minute parade...dang horses have no respect at all...ugh!

yep about 10 mins into it my left leg was feeling it. glad it was short. also never drove a car with someone sitting on the deck lid so a little nervous about that

Nervous about losing your passenger or the strength of the deck lid ?
This picture (not seen here in many months) should reassure you on the deck lid issue

No evidence of that on mine. They DID tend to be automatics, to save left legs!
