I saw a intake valve do that to a spark plug. The guide was so wore out, the intake valve was wobbling around so bad, it smacked the spark plug gap closed.

It didnt do any damage to the piston... just slapped the spark plug gap closed. By the look of the piston the edge of the looks like the valve hit it.

Little late for a camera , its pull the heads time either way, and hopefully that is it, but you will know more after its torn down.

More than likely wot & detonation= damaged piston. Could even be a cracked liner too. I see you're supercharged too. 10 to 1 that engine will have to come apart. The block may be toast too. Sorry for your bad luck.

Time to trade it on a c7z or take it to car max and sell it.

We currently have our package 4 reworked LS7 Core heads on the shelf and ready to ship out so if all you need is a set of heads give us a call
310-326-2399

Once you pull the heads you will know the extend of the damage. Hopefully you just need a new set of heads and your back up and running.

I'm gonna throw $50 towards detonation causing a ring land to break and more damage will be found when the head comes off.

The old #7 cylinder strikes again. Agree with others...detonation is no joke on these cars, especially if the OP is FI. My money is on piston and sleeve damage as well. Sorry for your loss, but yeah...start the teardown process.

What's he supposed to do? Vacuum the chunks out of cyl #7, slap in a new plug, and have the flat-bed drop him off right around the corner?

My bottom end came from Late Model Racing. They have great options for you on every level. I feel their prices are fair as well. Give them a call. Heads use AHP or WCCH. They both do fantastic work. Someone else may suggest a local builder but I am unfamiliar with your location.
