1965 Build Thread *Warning, Not a restoration
Hello, last month I came across this 1965 Vette that had been abandoned in a warehouse for many years. Someone at some point REALLY hacked this car up. I'm not a purist but couldn't believe the crude work and disregard for the parts this car had on it.
The chassis had a back half done and the welds looked like painted bubble gum. I didn't think the chassis was worth trying to save so after a trip to Mongoose Motorsports finding out they had a chassis ready to go it seemed like the right move.
The body mounts didn't match for some reason so I have been adjusting them. I'm looking to try and use a C6 interior as much as possible so I have been fitting parts in. I have a thread going on the C6 board asking for help on that.
The chassis is on Ebay for $600 if you need one!

Like what I see going on here - hacked up might be an understatement.
Nice garage too by the way. Looks like you have lots of fun projects going one.
Look forward to following along.

Nice work. They don't all have to be restored. I haven't seen a '64 Impala wagon in a long, long time....my neighbors used to have one in the '60's.

It doesn't look like there was enough left to restore it to stock anyway. You're saving another C2 that's what really matters. There's plenty of room for everyone's ideal project. Please keep the pictures and updates coming.

It's going to be a busy weekend, I got the steering column today and the seats. It looks like everything is going to fit nice. I'm gambling that I will get the electronics in the column and gauge cluster working.
Fun Fact- The C6 steering column aligns about perfect with the stock 1965 mounts! Wrong angle for the column but in the right spot and the same bolt center!
