Differences btw 2015,16,17 Z06?
Hello guys,
I am planning to buy a second hand Z06 3LZ Z07 Vette. I'd like to know what changes between a 2015 and a 2016/17? What options I will miss on a 2015 vehicle?
Will I have the front cameras? The performance data recorder? the possibility to connect the car with the myChevrolet App? and so on..
Or every vehicle can be upgraded to the latest specs?

All had pdr available. 3lz came standard with it. 2015 has the 5yr 100k powertrain warranty and the others don't.
2016 I hear the infotainment processor is faster and more responsive to touches. Also the front parking assists became available. Android auto and Apple car play also became available.
2017 pretty sure it's same as 2016 + new supercharger (supposedly better cooling) and the carbon fiber fear spoiler option became available.
There were also exterior color choice changes throughout the years.

Do you know if the front camera it's easy to install on a 2015? I have seen some websites selling the front grille with two cameras included. It's an easy plug and play installation or the process it's more difficult?
While regarding the 2016 infotainment system, do you know if I could upgrade a 2015 car?
thank you

As far as I know. Front cameras and infotainment can't be plugged into a 2015.
You'd probably be the first to try if u did. It might be more of a hassle than it's worth.
Thats why I'm looking for a 2016. The front parking cameras, faster interface, and Android auto are worth the difference in price to me.

The reason because I prefer a 2015 is because of the color; I'd like the car painted in yellow and I prefer the velocity yellow instead of the 2016 racing yellow.

In the forum there are some topics talking about how to change the 2015 infotainment to 2016.

much easier to upgrade a 16 to a 17 than a 15 to either.
17 if cash not issue or color is etc.
16 best bang for buck. new lid and hoodliner you have a 17

I have a 2015 and this past summer I had a front camera installed as a curb alert. It has a VERY small on/off button and when I push it 'on' the picture shows on the NAV screen. Mine is angled down so I can see the curbs. No battery drain.
I went to one of those car alarm/stereo places that was recommended by two local policemen.
It wasn't cheap............think it went for somewhere in the $600 to $900 vicinity------sad, but I forget. If you are interested I can look it up sometime tomorrow (babysitting grandchildren now).

My problem is the color, and also the price it's not irrelevant. Here in Italy for a full optional Z06 you have to pay 140.000€. My dream it to buy a well equipped Velocity yellow Z06 in USA, make a memorable trip with the car there and then import the car in Italy. I would save a lot of money that I can spend in modifications etc if I buy a car in USA. But I just realized that the current racing yellow tint coat is not for me, and that a second hand 2015 Z06 3LZ Z07 costs around 80.000$. So, even pay 2.000$ for the upgrade of a 2015 to a 2016 would be always better for me instead to buy a 2016/17.

i spoke with Tadge at Corvette's at carlisle and asked him about the changes to 17 he referenced the hood test and how they fit the larger lid by pushing the lid up to the inside of the hood (maybe it still passes? idk?)
if you're interested in hearing how he explained the 17 changes etc. good luck with your search!!

Don't know if this is a duplicate response or not-----just got 'timed out' by the system and my 1st response was lost.
I will be quick with this reply:
My final cost was $903 with taxes. Camera was $105.00 ('Nav TV Cam13 front camera").
The labor was $340---well worth it.
The guts of the system--the kit was $405. HOWEVER, the supplier messed things up 3 or 4 times with the installer (sent a kit that wasn't compatible even though the supplier insisted it would be; sent another kit, but left out key parts as the supplier thought they were also in the 1st kit sent; etc., etc. So I got the following $749.99 kit for the original $405 the installer quoted me "nav tv myCUE kit" (NTV-KIT #457).
I think kit Nav tv GM-Uni cam (SKU NTV-KIT #629) would have worked if the supplier sent a complete kit---and this was going for the $405.
I am VERY pleased. No drilling; no battery drain; easy to use; and it works!
Find a reputable installer, maybe one recommended by your Chevy dealer; or a car alarm place the dealers in your are use.

Like everything out there aftermarket alternatives are cheaper and better. There are camera that you mount in a grill and use use wifi and your phone to view. Blackvue sells many cameras and the is performance software that does an excellent job.
I'd not let the 16 or 17 GM options make me pass on a good deal on a 15 when there are easy add ons.
