2016 Z06 and performance data recorder
I found a pretty good deal on a new 2016 Z06 2LZ, 17% off MSRP. It has the colors and wheels I want. It does not have the PDR, so what am I really missing if I don't have this option? I am not going to track the car.
Also, it has the auto tranny. With the automatic transmission does this 2LZ package have remote start?
Thanks for the replies

I just placed an order for a 2017 convertible with navigation/PDR. I had to spend $1,000 for the PDR part of the bundled Navigation and PDR option. Thinking the PDR will probably be seldom used. I have not missed it with my current 2014 convertible with navigation.

If you remember to hit record when you get in the car, you have an OEM dash cam with the PDR. It will automatically delete the oldest video so pretty easy to do. Other than that, it is a feature/gimmick that many likely use when the first get it and never touch again.
For track purposes however, it is fantastic!

pretty sure all Z06 trims have remote start. I have a 3LZ so it comes with it but if for ANY reason you are thinking you "may" want it you should keep looking. they're out there.
I used it first time other day joy ride with my 16yo niece who thought the car was the coolest thing she'd ever seen or drove in .the best is the audio lol and it was fun to bring card in and watch on TV.
it was also pretty cool to watch it on the screen in the car. idk. another fun thing the car has i guess..
you could get by with apple car play or android nav without an issue. but i don't think you could add afterwards so up to you..

I've used the PDR once... just to see if it worked. I definitely would not have purchased it separately, however, it was packaged with navigation on the 2LZ. While I seldom use the nav, it was something that I wanted, but not really sure why. Similar to a "must have" CD player in a new RAM that I've never used

Thanks for the replies, all good information. Both of my GM autos have factory nav, and I never use them. I have found the Google Maps app on my phone is more accurate than the factory navigation.

PDR Performance Data Recorder... A nice toy. I have it in mine used it 4-5 times during spirited driving, otherwise not worth the SD card to allow it to record. However I love the Nav.
IF I could again buy without and add nav for 1k. Easy to do.

If I could just get the Nav and no PDR I would do it

I haven't ever seen an oem pdr added after the fact. It's integrated into the head unit, I don't think you'd be able to get the software upgrade to run it. There are some great aftermarket solutions that provide far better picture, plus most of the telemetry just not the integration the pdr gives you.

I just bought a 2016 2LZ that has the PDR. It wasn't an option I wanted and the only time I plan on using it is at the track. I do not have remote start, but that may be because the car is manual. I could be wrong on the transmission being the issue, but there is no remote start.
If you want to record track data and video, just download the Harry's Laptimer App for your phone ($20) and buy a good mount ($40).
