Some people are animals
I can't believe someone did this! I detailed the car Friday and went to a Corvette Cruise In on Saturday. It was not like this. Sunday I had an appointment to get my DOT physical. I know it didn't happen there because it was nosed into the spot and I walked around the back of the car to get in to leave. From there my wife and I did some grocery shopping. It had to have happened then.
I loaded the trunk from the side and never looked at the back of the car when I put it in the garage and unloaded it. I worked yesterday and took my hoopty. Today I almost fell on the floor when I saw this. $575 is my cost from the dealer. I just can't believe someone would back into the car and just drive off. My best guess is a trailer hitch.

A trailer hitch that low? It almost would have to have been another Corvette with a trailer hitch to run one that low...

It's sad, but most people now days will drive off. The only reason I caught the guy that backed over the top of my hood was his bumper got caught on the upper core support and he could'nt get away. He also caused further damage trying to drive off. The guy who delivered my new hood told me if he backed into my Vette said he would drive away also whille laughing. Looks like if you're handy you may be able to replace that rear diffuser yourself. At least they missed your bumper cover.

It really is sad that someone would just drive off. I used to do paint\body repair for a living. Now I just help out my friend at his shop when he is overwhelmed. I did manage to get it out some so it's not as obvious. It just makes me really mad though.

Some people just back until it goes crunch and think nothing of checking for damage! Sorry for you problem.

That's just sad on a couple different levels; first that it happened, second that the individual that did it didn't stick around or leave a note ... whatever happened to taking responsibility for one's own actions.

Yeah. That sucks man. We live in a society of entitlement. Zero integrity.
I'd get a carbon fiber one (for the same price) and install it myself. Or try to pop it back out, for now at least.
We put so much into these cars and drive them in a sea of people that don't give a crap about there own rides even. It's a recipe for disaster.

That really irks me. There's no common courtesy nowadays. No one is willing to do the right thing.
If it's still not totally back in shape, try a heat gun and something solid that follows the shape of the back side that you can smooth it with, such as the rounded end of a wrench or screw driver handle.
I had a fairly large dent in the panel of another car that I got near perfect using a heat gun and applying pressure on the back side with a tennis ball. Good luck!

A lot of good suggestions about a terrible event all of them carry merit, I would replace it myself if it were mine, your case may be different, or find the part you need & take it to a body shop, possibly replace it while you wait if you're lucky

Sorry about that. but yeah people do not care anymore about the property of others. On that note, I would replace myself. Actually I did change mine to an aftermarket no long ago. It is super simply but you do have to remove the rear tires. Besides that it is an easy swap. Good luck

Thanks everyone for the kind words and support. I did manage to get most of it out and buffed the scratches out of the bumper cover. Unfortunately with the valance being a textured part there's not a lot than can be done.
I have disguised it some with a narrow chrome moulding. I have seen others with similar trim. My wife likes the way it looks and it really doesn't look too bad now, but I know its there.
