Got a ride in a c7
Not too impressed first of all it seems very narrow in the cockpit I was on the passenger side I had no room every time we came to a stop and ready to take off there was a hesitation something about the cylinder shutdown I see nothing but trouble with that then I realized or he told me it's only 3 years 36000 mile warranty. Enough said I'll enjoy my C6

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I've driven a couple and I thought that they were great cars. At some point, I'll have one.

I can only compare a C7Z to my ZR1. I liked the new Z, tons of options, pretty cars, pretty interiors. But I definitely like the ZR1 better. Cancelled my Z order for the ZR1 actually haha.
Looking forward to the C8 though.

Its a beautiful car but not for me. too cramped and I cant get into the new styling. If you go over to the C7Z section you would think there are many many problems with it . sort of like here when we were new. One thing I did notice that those guys over there are nastier than we were. There is no slack cut in the C7Z section......LOL

Love my 427 C6, but there can be no question that my C7-Z51 Coupe is a positive advancement by any definition. Of course, if you're one who doesn't care for the progressive new styling, well, styling is always subjective.
It is unfortunate however, that so many folks want to express 'their views' as if they were facts, rather than simply their opinion…which everyone is entitled to.

On manuals, it is only active in Eco mode, on autos, it is active only in D, it is not active in Manual mode (using paddle shifters). It is possible to drive both transmissions w/o ever using 4 cyl.
So, if AFM is active, it will only activate within a certain speed and acceleration range, which is basically when the car is traveling fast enough in a "cruising" situation. ANY deviation outside this, such as even a small need to accelerate will deactivate the V4 and will go into V8. There is no hesitation when going between the two; in fact unless you have the radio off and are listening carefully, you can't even hear it going between the two modes.
It is never active when sitting or accelerating from a stop, so whatever the "hesitation" that corvette bob54 felt, wasn't because of the AFM, because the car was in V8 mode during this entire time, it would never have entered V4.
Hope this helps.

Let me clear up some misconceptions about the AFM (cylinder deactivation).

I have also test driven a couple C7s and like them, just not quit ready to make the leap & give up my C6 yet

So cylinder deactivation does not happen at idle? That would seem like something a manufacturer would do for extra CAFE points.
This is the same company that brought us the 1-4 shift after all.

I agree that it would have made sense for it to go V4 when stopped at idle. From what I understand it is disabled when under approx. 20 mph.

My brother in law and myself flew back to Bowling Green and did an R8C factory delivery on his 14 when they first came out. We then proceeded to drive the car about 3500 miles back to where he lives in Wash. state. That was about the greatest road trip I've ever done. We found the car well worth the money spent. Technology, comfort and just plain fun made the car feel like I had owned it myself for ten years. Scratch off another one on the "Bucket List!"

I've not been inside a C7 but I do like the way the car looks. I have said this dozens of times but I really like the way the car looks.. Only thing that keeps me from buying one is the price verses what I want to pay for a car hobby. The 23k I have in my C6 I never give a thought to and I paid cash as I do for all my toys. I really like the looks of my C6 as well but probably like the C7 a tad bit better, just not enough to double the cost of my hobby. To each his on.

I've heard negatives and positives about the C7. My issue with the C7 is the price.
For that price, I could just buy a 96-02 Viper GTS, or a 06-10 SRT-10 Coupe and be happy...
I love my C6, and I only paid 17k for it... I've seen C7's go for as low as 43K, still way out of my price range for a car I can only drive for 5 months out of the year. If I'm going to do that, I'm getting the dream car... I know, it's a sacrilege for a Vette owner's dream car to be a Viper, but, eff it. It is... the secret is out.
