Default This is what happened to my C7....(Fixed)

This is what happened to my C7 at the dealer while they worked on the airbag recall. It blows my mind how careless these dealers are with our cars. In addition to this, she was full of grease fingers (inside and out)

looks like someone really hit the gas backing off the lift and snagged it.

Sheesh! Why was it even on the lift for the air bag recall?

I am not sure if she was up on the lift. I am not even sure how it happened. I think that they did on a curb ramp. The service advisor will investigate what happened but at the end, I just need it replaced.

That damage could have been done on a curb stop by a entry level lot driver that wasn't use to parking a Corvette(especially one with a low hanging splitter). At least it can be replaced with no paint work involved.

Very minor inconvenience.

When my new C5 went into "limp home" mode when it was one week old(280 miles), I got it back 10 days later with a busted front fender. Can't replace a fender without paint being involved and who wants a brand new car with a painted fender that has a metallic pigment.

Aww hell no. I brought my Z in last week and the first thing the tech did was leave a big, greasy handprint on the windshield when he was reading the VIN. I also tried to tell him about the display changes as a result of the upgrade (it happened to me too) and he was like "the update doesn't impact anything but the airbags". Right.

Can you elaborate on the display changes? I have not noticed anything, but I was so pistoff that I was not thinking straight.

why do they even need to bring it into a bay when it's just a program update? Plug the Tech 2 into the OBDII and Bob's your uncle.

It's nothing major; the tach appears the same regardless of driving mode whereas before they varied. It's an easy fix but my point was, the service rep was like...software changes don't impact the rest of the networked features of the car. Right.

Same thing happened to me, they damaged my skirt with the lift.
I am not going to lie, I was pretty angry at the moment. But the managed the situation right and got a new set and gave me a rental while waiting for them to arrive.

I watched the "technician" at the dealer out of the corner of my eye while he did the first oil change on my wife's Z, and glad I did. They scratched the top with their laptop while doing the airbag update, racked it wrong (luckily no damage), I had to inform him there were two plugs, when I asked how much oil he was putting back in I got "10.5 quarts", and they didn't know about filling it with M-1. Luckily I own a shop and have no need for them unless something fails under warranty, so they will NEVER touch it again, and if I do need it will be visiting a different dealer!

Bummer, sorry for your horrible experience. I know great Indy's, which of course are no use to me concerning vette and warranty sitch.

Found this thread while on hold with dealer (called to schedule airbag recall/ software update) If it weren't safety related, I'd likely punt. Must have caught them at a bad time, no one ever answered the phone. Of course I'll call back because I have no choice (no reasonable choice that is)

Reminds me of my first dealer visit. (500 mile oil change) Tech was fixin' to hop in my car with 3 lbs. of keys dangling from a rear, (not front or side) belt loop. In the nicest way possible, I said "Please hold your keys as you get in". Common sense folks, think first please.

I wish they had common sense. I doubt they do, especially with so many horror stories I hear here.

Have an appointment at my dealer for the air bag recall and 1st oil change at 2500 miles (2017 2lt).... I want to observe their work and perhaps insure this simple procedure goes well. Got my fingers crossed

So careless.. Which dealer was this? People should know to stay away from them if this is how they treat customers cars.

Truly blows my mind hearing about the dealerships out there that still don't get it. You sell a car en par with a BMW price wise and you treat your customers and their cars like crap,

When I was owning BMWs I entered the service area, was assigned a tech rep that reviewed my concerns. Offered beverages and snacks while waiting. At the completion work was reviewed as well as my car.

That being said, my Corvette service department is incredible! They are all great folks, friendly and happy bunch and to top it off I have Paul Koerner as the expert that works on my Vette. I have nothing to complain about.
