Default Rattling Targa Top

All, I've recently purchased a beautiful '89 Vette, and the cursed targa top is rattling like crazy on the drivers side, I've tightened all of the torx bolts with the nifty wrench included with the car, but it still rattles like crazy, especially on the drivers side.

What has everyone done to correct this problem as I know, I can't be the only one with this issue. Any simple fixes that wont cause any other problems?

What is the condition of your weatherstripping?

Wore out weatherstripping will allow some of the "hard" surfaces to make contact and rattle.

Weather Stripping is still soft and pliable...though I need to change it because the car was victimized when the previous owner had it, someone tried to break into it. But the weather strip up by the roof is still soft.

On my 1992 the targa rattled, although I had tightened the 4 bolts that held it in. I discovered the mounts on the windshield frame that the targa bolts to were loose. I tightened those and the rattles stopped.

Isn't it a part of the windshield frame? Hmmm, will have to look at this tonight.

Thanks

Check to see if it the top is separating from the frame, mine is and plan on fixing it this winter.

Most of the time the issue is the targa and frame not being adhered correctly anymore. I fixed mine (albeit very messily) with gorilla glue. You could do a cleaner job on it than I did and it'd work great, it makes a very nice bond together.

Check the rear targa mounts where they attach to the halo.
