Default Wheel hop

Not sure if its just cuz the car is brand new and i been driving in cold weather on summer tires, but how can i get rid of wheel hop???

This was an issue that had to be addressed on my 14' 5.0 i wasnt expecting it to be an issue in a 2017 grand sport corvette, but it sure is.

What parts need to be changed to remedy this?

What speeds, conditions, turning angle, etc.? I'm aware of hop during tight turning radius, and it's a known phenomenon. Is that what you're referring to?

Yes i am talking about wheel hop on launch.

33psi warm is that low? Thats what it said on the performance gauge inside the car. I figured it had to be right so i didnt check if it needed to be higher cuz the car is brand new.

(stock wheel and tires)

Actually. Have to double check if that was warm tire temp, i forgot if i checked it when the tires were cold or warm.

It's called the Ackerman Effect. Do a search here on CorvetteForum and you can read more about it.

This is common with Corvette. Once your tires heat up, this goes away.

Actually, it's normal on most any high HP/TQ RWD vehicle on cold high performance tires.

Im not talking about the tires skipping during slow speed maneuvers, i just figured that was because of the diff being more hardcore.

Im talking about when you try to launch the car and instead of puttin down skid marks on the floor you get a severe vibration.

Is it?? There has to be a bushing kit or rear suspension piece to stiffen things up back there.

On my 14' 5.0 mustang i changed out the upper and lower rear control arms for some bmr pieces that had polly bushings, that eliminated the wheel hop 100%. I could launch the mustang on any surface at any temp and it would put all the power to the floor no hopping and skipping bs. I want that in my vette. Wheel hop is embarrassing.

Heres wheel hop if you dont know... its at the 22 second mark in this video.

I have the same issue on my 2016 Z51 and posted it here back in the spring. Never found a solution. On launch I can't get a good smooth smoky burnout, even with all the nannies turned off. Feels like the tires alternately grabbing and releasing with major vibration that I assume is wheel hop. You are not alone.

You need to turn it into a LT4

I bet you'll see more responses over the weekend when the forum is hopefully busier. In the meantime, have you broadened your scope i.e. Googled term? Wish I could help but I haven't encountered it.

I just queried "corvette wheel hop launch how mitigate" and boatloads of results followed. YMMV.

Tried to do a launch again today it was 70 degrees and tires were more then warmed up... hopped like a bitch. Temp is not the issue.

And yes i googled it, cant find any fixes for the c7 regarding to wheel hop.

Im sure It needs stiffer bushings 100% i just need to figure out which bushings.

Edit**

Im prolly just gonna swap em all out with this kit...

Did you ever fix your wheel hop issue? If so, what was the key because I have the same issue. Did you put in the delrin bushings?

Wheel hop is because rear suspension is to soft, turn shock control switch to sport or track and see if it goes away or gets better.

I have always had this issue. I can't do a good burnout from a standstill. But the wheels seem to break free smoothly under accel whilst cornering or unweighting.

Havnt dont it yet its gonna have to come later as i wanna do other mods first, im very sure the bushings and the run flat tires are the issue.

Incorrect...

Rev higher before dropping the clutch... i dont have an issue with burnouts, its when the tires are on the edge of grip when trying for a launch when you get the hop.

I was out this weekend and did some runs from a dig. 16 z51 M7. I have the pilot super sport tires in the non run flat version. So i know its not the run flat causing the wheel hop.Anyone find a solution?
