Original Seat Belts?? Need Help
My 66 coupe is a fairly original car. I believe my seat belts are original to the car. I was looking for exact replacements for these and I can't seem to find them anywhere. Are these original for my car? Should they have been painted black and it has worn off? Can't find any that have the "square" Chevy logo like mine have. Could use your help/advice. Thank you.

Those are late 66 belts. Early 66 belt buckles were flat with a logo stamp on the front. You can have them refurbished to like new condition by Snake Oyl, Charlie at Seatbelt Sity or Seatbelt Solutions. Jerry

You either have to restore your originals as Jerry said or head to Corvettes at Carlisle next August where you "might" find some nice used black ones in better shape. If found a great set of bright blue originals like yours for my 66 at a swap meet, so they are out there.

I have read in other threads that it costs $500-$600 to restore them. I was hoping to buy original looking replacements and s more reasonable cost and keep the originals incase I sell and new owner wants them. My car is pretty original but I'm not interested or concerned about having it judged or anything. It is a driver quality car. Maybe I will just order another style "correct" set.

I found an extremely acceptable pair of belts on seatbeltsplus.com; even had the 63 three panel webbing and aircraft style, brushed aluminum lift latch.
About $100 and I can drive the car with them in while the originals are restored. Only a knowledgeable 63 guy could spot the repros IMO.

OR ... perhaps the OP could solicit help in locating the article entitled "RCF-65 Seat Belt Buckles." published in the summer 2006 issue of NCRS Restorer magazine; then have a try at refurbishing his existing OEM parts.

These would be close enough for me at $69. I'm not into paying $500 for original.

'Thinking' about restoring tbe original seat belts in my '64; for the time being, I got these belts from Willcox Corvette. .. Lift buckles, nice color and decent quality I'm happy with these belts.

If can't find the original with the bowtie replacement, you could consider replacing them with the button version used on earlier 66 models. You can get a set of new buckles & nylon belts about $200 to start. Find a local sewing alteration show to the stitch work.
