"Its a c5, thats like the c4 of corvettes".
I found this quote in another thread from a forum member in Sacramento and it left me scratching my head.
He's clearly a C7 guy. No trouble there. I personally think the C7 is, well, not my cup of tea. But I can still see the heritage from all past generations reflected in it's design. Hell, the interior is a dead ringer. And it's still a Corvette.
I think the C4 is the C4 of Corvettes. And the C5,6,7 are standing on some very tall shoulders.

I don't get the infighting among Corvette generations. It's even among the same gen cars, early vs late. I appreciate a nice car regardless of the year. JMO

for years C4 have been the red headed step child of the Corvette owners. before that it was the late C3 cars. it doesn't help all the stereotypical owners of the cars and what they do to them in bad taste.

IMCO the C4 Corvette broke the mold and brought the Corvette into the world of modern sports cars. Aluminum suspension parts and electronic controls to start with. The C5 and later generations are an evolution of the C4. Now that the C7 is so advanced the C4 is considered archaic. Yes a C5 and new does everything better but aside form late 60s performance didn't a C4 do everything better that a C3?

So many cars today seem to be going for some angry insect look that just doesn't do it for me. I prefer the softer flowing lines of my C4 to the overstarched creases jutting from the C7. But there's a little bit of C4 in every newer Corvette, so what's not to love?

Backs my story of when a C7 gave me a thumbs down when I was in my C4. They are not car guys, its just the newest "cool car" they can afford so they buy it. Anything older then the C7 is garbage to them. There are a select few who are true car guys but not many.

SMH
He now owns a 2016 camaro ss vert because he read that the Dyno numbers on the ss were higher than a stingray. Which is all good, but he wouldn't take into account the heavier camaro. He just wants the latest and greatest.

It is just class warfare amongst ourselves. I remember when the c6 subforum was practically intolerable with the same mindset...you know, people who say take it to the dealer and you couldn't possibly work on such a fine high tech super car all by yourself...
Now that subforum is full of dyi posts and "how do I fix this or that" problem posts. Or maybe "My C6 has 230k miles on it, how much do you think it is worth?" ..etc. There will always be new car prestige owners and some that find that option cheaper than paying for endless repairs, but often the owners of older models are painted with a wide brush claiming they can't afford a new one, which is often not the case.

I own both a C7 and a C4. and honestly, the C7 is like nothing I've ever driven before. However, that statement isn't ******* the C4. I've only gotten to put about 500 miles on it since I got the C4 since it's been disassembled 90% of the time, but the C4 is definitely more of a "drivers" car. And that's why I love it. at the end of the day, a Corvette is a Corvette...

I would expect that to be true. But this poster didn't compare the two. Instead he lumped them together as not worth defending in a family argument compared to the C7.
Here's the post at #62.
If I had the spare coin for a C7, I would spend it on having the bitchen-ist C4 ever.

I'd like to see a C3 hang with either of those cars.

The corvette elitist attitude, those are the ones that make the stereotype ring true. Closing in on 50 its been that way since I was a kid
Cracks me up these are Chevys, all of em. Not F cars, Lambos, Koenisseg, real exotics. Nothing but insecurity and little man syndrome. Really drives me away sometimes from buying another. Car guys dont mind its the snobs and wanna be NCRS judges that walk around at cruise night and run thier mouth. Its incorrect.....or "if its not stock its no good"..mine scored xx points in NCRS so I cant drive it now. GOOD GAWD someone shoot me how do they even take a crap without making it complicated lol.
Grew to hate it
Probably why I go out of my way to drive old stuff that people hate. lol
You see it every day. "They saw my car and are jealous" " They wish they were me". "traffic stops and everyone stares at me"
Ohhh kay..
Dont know what they are smokin. At the end of the day these are all the same brand I dont get it either. Never see this on other car forums only the vette crowd.
Youre right they werent that fast (the old 60s musclecars) even with tires on them. Good for their time yes;more folklore than anything. High cool factor but time

. My LT-4 has 0-60 times quoted in the low 5's and ZR-1s could walk all over me.

I have a good friend that just bought a C7.R. He still likes my '84, and gives me credit for how nice it is. He can't even work on his! That's no fun! My C4 makes his C7 look big and lumpy looking! (They're both yellow!)
