Not sure what the exact condition of those cars was, but just based on price there appeared to be some good deals.

Anyone that has access to the report can dig much deeper for additional information on the vehicle. Such things as dents, scrapes, estimated repair costs, and even remaining tire depth are noted.
There are several pages of reports listed on each vehicle in the list. Buyers are not going into these auctions totally blind.
Yes, there are some great buys.

Supply and demand. Discounting the new 2016 and 2017's because demand has dropped off and production levels have not been cut, hence, anyone wanting to buy a C7 can get a brand new one for not much more than some of the used pricing.

Perhaps not, but it is still insightful. I noticed two 2016 C7s with near-zero miles selling for $60K. I surmise these are new cars being dumped by dealers. There is a 2LT vert in my area that has an MSRP of $77K going for $65K--15% off. The thing is, from what I have read I believe I could get a 2017 factory ordered for approximately that price right now. So this begs the question. How low can the 16's go? The 17's are putting serious pressure on the remaining 16's. Is there more downside potential here? At what point is it reasonable to take a 16 over a 17 here? Except for a couple of cosmetic details, the 16 is almost what I would order. I'm in a quandary here over how to make this decision. Any advice?

Your comment is pure speculation. The data presented from the auto auctions above is from the time period of May 2016 to Nov 2016. The data is real and factual. The data proves the point that there are no auction sales under the $40K level.
Auto auction sales usually present wholesale prices and are not considered private party price points or dealer retail price points.
I am not sure where you get the well below $40k number. Perhaps you can advise if your claim is strictly guesswork, or you have real data to support your comment.

Second, I just picked up a 2015 2LT auto with 5k for $46k, so I assumed wholesale prices for 2014 1LT would be less than $40k.
Thoughts?

Was trading my 2014 2LT, conv. w/ NAV, chrome wheels, Npp, spoiler, etc. 20000 miles, new Mich A/S runflats. Had trade in prices from $36.5 to $43k. Car was in excellent condition. Even advertised it on the forum.
The day I went to trade it in, a member from Va Beach bought it for the trade in price. There are many, many C7s out there.
What really surprised me is the trade in price for the C7 was the same trade in price for the 2013 3LT, GS conv I bought.

sure, no problem. Just a quick search on cars.com showed at least 7 vehicles priced under $40k (partial screen shot attached), and and 13 vehicles under $42K. These are retail "ask" prices and so I would expect that auction wholesale prices would be significantly less.

When completing a search today for 2014 to 2016 C7's, priced under $40K with 20,000 miles or less, I found only one.

Those are just the first three, the last one has only 25k miles, there are plenty others there including a 2015 with only 15k miles for $42.5 retail asking price.
The overall point is the car is available for under $40k wholesale is still a fair one.

I was doing a search since I was interested for low priced used 14 recently and found multiple stingrays for 38-39k that dealers were "asking". I'm sure I could have taken a bit more off. I would not being surprised especially during winter if you see 14's start going for 35k. I'm not surprised though since new 17's can be had for 48-49k multiple places. A lot of places are still asking to much imo for the used 14 and 15 models considering the almost exact price you'll pay for a 16/17. Prices will continue do drop even more though if new cars prices stay down. Let them keep dropping so I can pick up a Z06 for 50k ha. (Cheapest I've when looking is around 60k used but for a 3lz). So another 10k off in the future isn't that unrealistic! Let's keep our fingers crossed. ha

Reminds me of a tale.....
...........years ago my (Amazon IT Team leader....bragging about my son) son and I were deep into Computer Shopper looking to buy the next great desktop 'puter.....called one 'puter company and he said we could have the system for 1500 bucks and I asked what if we waited a few months.....obviously irritated by the question he said, "wait a year and it's free...."

You have to look every day and be willing to "go get" the car that you find ...they are out there...as was my 16' Z51, 3LT, NPP,MRC,PDR, Upper suede pkg. with 2.5k. This was a CPO so warrenty was extended to 6 years and another 12m Bump to bump, $56k. That said this was the first "used" Vette that I have ever purchased and yes I found some areas on the paint from just plain "bad washing practices" , 'tis what you get to some degree when it was not your car !!! I have a 16 with minimal miles going into 17' and got in an amazing price..I can live with that ...

My observation:
Lower optioned cars retain greatest percentage of their MSRP as used cars.
