Default Corvettes attract lunatics - long

I was driving home from my son's house on Thanksgiving. It's a 105 mile drive and I was within 20 miles of home, when this crazy (pronounced drunk) SOB weaves out of the second lane and pulls in behind me in the fast lane so I can't see his headlights (of which he only had one). There is a car on my immediate right that he must have been tailgating and I was on cruise control at 75 mph. I passed the car on my right and slid into the number two lane to let this crazy bastard pass. He blows by me at full acceleration in this little silver Japanese/Korean car about the size of a Honda Civic and jams off down the freeway. I'm watching him and he is sliding back and forth from the number one lane to the number five lane and running at anywhere between 45 mph and 90 mph. When it comes time for me to exit the Hwy.80 freeway onto the Hwy.65 freeway I realize that this crazy drunk is in the far right lane, heading onto Hwy.65 with me. The merge is a big right hand circle with a flyover. He is doing about 50 mph in the right lane. I am doing about 75 mph in the left lane. As we get onto Hwy.65 he clocks up on the back of a 3/4 ton pickup truck and rides his *** until the guy pulls over and the idiot jams off at around 90 mph. I'm keeping my distance, but he slows down to about 45 mph in the fast lane and as I get near him in the slow lane, he cuts over in front of me and sits there at 45 mph. I just swallow my anger, grab my cell phone and I call the CHP to report this guy. As I'm doing that he pulls back out into the fast lane and I start to pull past him in the slow lane doing my 75 mph. As I pass him he jumps on the skinny pedal and paces me while waiving his arms and gesturing wildly. My exit comes up and I slide off to the right. Since he is in the left lane, he keeps going straight. Happy Thanksgiving douche bag. Anyway, I've owned this Vette for about 20 months now and this is the second time I've had some idiot behave this way. Usually, when someone reacts to you on the road with road rage, it's because of something you've done to attract them. This guy was a complete self starter. I've gotta wonder how Corvettes attract these kinds of insects.

You should have gotten his plate number. I was in a situation where the driver behind me was drunk or on drugs. He was weaving from right lane , middle and the fast lane . I let him pass me and I followed him as I called the cops. I told them my vehicle and color , his vehicle and color. I passed my exit on purpose and the cops caught up to me yelling where is he ? I told them 4 car lengths in front of me. They took off and got him to stop. I got off the next exit to turn around. I get back on the expressway and pass the cops. The driver was in handcuffs. I did my good deed

I think color has something to do with it as well. Although it never occurred to me before, my buddy with a nice 72 Vette decided to get a C6... he bought a supersonic blue and had so many idiots messing with him he sold it 6 months later. I've had Silver and now Black, never a problem.

I would imagine that it would be worse driving a Porsche.

Had a Porsche prior to my current Corvette; no one ever bothered or even came near me/it. In the Vette I've even had motorcyclists bait me to race them on the highway, let alone cars tailgating and/or then pulling in front by cutting me off. Lots of nuts on the road these days; makes it very difficult to enjoy driving anywhere.

We had a similar situation out on Hwy 40, guy was driving like a real ***, putting other people lives in danger.
My son was on duty so I called him and told him what the car looked like, we saw him do a cross hwy drive thru in the dirt and then he was gone, saw him further up the road with the guy pulled over, I honked and waved as we passed by

The Vette attracts a lot of kids in their 4 bangers. Here in southern Ohio though my Dodge cummins truck, completely stock, almost weekly gets "coal rolled" by some idiot redneck in his poorly tuned truck.

Stupid people are everywhere. It is not the vette. Call them in and/or stay away from them.

It happens to me all the time, ...just let them go they are not worth messing with...they have a beater and they want to show you how they can both outpower you and out drive you... I just watch and hope they don't kill someone.

A group of kids here in Southwest FL have taken it to another level with a Facebook page where they brag about encounters like that and call you out, called the 239 Car Club page.

So the police should have a hey day with these idiots that are ignorant enough to advertise their stupidity.......

I constantly had people trying to race me and messing with me in the red 07 coupe but have only had it a couple of times with the carbon flash GS - both times it was Rustang drivers; go figure!

Sounds like the guy was so wasted he couldn't discern a Corvette from a Camry.

I started doing something just to prove a point to my wife. When I'm going down the highway on cruise control in the slow lane and someone comes up behind me and rides a little to close for my comfort, I move over to the fast lane and never change my speed. Every time I do that, they pass me. So, why can't they just go around in the fast lane is my question?

Southeast FL has it's share of A Holes as well. Must be the hot summer weather that bakes their brains.

Nutjobs are everywhere. I once had some idiot try to ram into the side of my C5 with his truck, and the only thing I did to him was pass him.

I'm in the group that thinks this had nothing to do with your Vette. Idiots are everywhere. There's so many, they're unavoidable.
